Thread: The Chat/Spam Thread

Lots of things I wanted to do but i couldn 't. Most of it involved money which I did not have. Time has passed, I am doing better but lack other things and it will always be like this, I'm afraid. For example, I have loads of time now, and have no idea what to do with it.

I met someone online a month ago and I was surprised to see how we are very much alike. Think of someone that is exactly like you, same way of thinking, same ideas, same passions. Incredible. We met at this programming group. By talking to him i realized that I've accomplished nothing all these years. We talked about the desire of doing great things, of leaving your mark upon the world, creating a legacy. I used this as a test: if you we're to die tomorrow, what would you leave behind? .

I hate the idea of doing work just for the money when this time could better spent elsewhere, doing greater things. I'm just as upset about this as he is. I don't believe in the work that I do, and I don't anyone else does. if people we're paid for their work, no one will do it. This is the problem: they're doing work that isn't worth doing, and all for the money. Finding people, that are willing to do the work, and have the time are very scarce. And a prerequisite of this is people without families as they are the only ones that can handle such a schedule. I'm, hoping, at some point, to get aligned with him, and work on something.

Ah, the great philosopher Akon was right.

I'd explain my stance on the rest, but that's the last thing you need right now.

I have felt this way for a very long time, but I've eventually taken comfort in realizing and accepting that most people do not leave an impact on the world at all. Even those that do, most of them are forgotten within a generation or two.
You have to do something pretty darn incredible to leave an impact behind. And even then, it has to be top notch for people to still remember your name. Just look at how much of an impact C++ left behind. Now see how many people actually know the dude's name and that he died not too long ago?

While I do want to leave an impact, it also just happens that all the things I do and that I'm good at and enjoy, are also things that are obsolete within a couple of years. e.g., one of the things I always wanted to do, was build software that I could sell and live off of. Build new features, give out support, etc etc. Think of products like Photoshop. Or maybe even just a framework that people really enjoy using. Build a company around it eventually. Even that's a pretty darn big dream, and my software will probably be obsolete by the time I die. Unless I somehow build the next windows that everyone loves. And even then.

All good examples of impactful software, but none were one or two-person jobs, even in the beginning.

If there is a next Windows, it would have to be ReactOS. Sadly, after all this time, its usability level is "almost ready for basic tasks".

A lot of frameworks, however, did start as a one person project. But yeah. Dreams be dreams, some times.

Wanted to treat myself for finishing this month alive, was torn between ice cream and marshmallows... but chocolate with almonds, Oreo cream and mint with chocolate chips seemed like the better investment.

Indeed, you did it, you changed someone's life for the better. And one of those chips was the size of a small asteroid

    Thank you!
My cousin asked me if we can "babysit" his malamute dog while he's on break in august. Should be fun!

Here's one direction the industry is heading: censored porn. I cannot prove it at this point but I suspect that this is the work of feminists. While pornography as a whole can never be stopped, they are looking for solutions to stop the degradation of women, while still providing a steady income to those women. The sad thing, this genre of porn actually caught up and is quite popular, unfortunately. And while we're on this subject, I've been seeing some changes to the industry. For instance, women that have maledom fetish, these are gone. All sites on this genre is either missing, or deleted, or unavailable. At the same time, femdom rised up, shocking so. And if you combine this with recent events, such as upcoming games/series/movies/franchises uses female protagonists/models... the direction this is heading is not good.

And I'm not also not sure as to why no one is seeing this.
