    Update 4.

[17/12/2020] [Directly answering two questions I'd asked on the 16th] Good afternoon. We can perform the final copying of the recovered data on the 500 GB disks you mentioned. The original structure and timestamps of everything will be preserved. Regards.

[18/12/2020] We have finished the disk cloning procedure, managing to access 90% of the data area. It is currently in the process of being scanned sector by sector to analyze and rebuild the structure of files and directories.

Technician's notes: The mirroring process, in which all accessible areas are copied sector by sector, has finished. I am currently rebuilding the partition, file and directory structure, and performing a full scan of the data area in search of files. Once this process is finished, the data will be loaded on a backup drive, and finally critical data will be verified if we have been informed what is considered as such [Note: I did not do this, instead telling them to recover everything they could]. I will keep you informed of any advancements.
90% of the data area is pretty awesome Not to mention, that also technically includes unused space, which was approximately half of the disk. So, if that 10% had either nothing or redownloadable stuff... anyway, I have SHA-1 checksums for almost everything, so I can be sure it was really recovered.

How to apply SHA-1 checksum ? and btw this method can be use for all of files ? i dont want to repeat the same thing because lost of electricity. and my hdd not working anymore. i went to local "expert" he brought my hdd back after 3 weeks of his efforts. what is weird is :) he only fixed the reader instead of recovering the file. and the hdd itself sounds like sands inside filling it.

I use the built-in checksum tool in Total Commander, as sha1sum does not support Unicode. It works for all files, but needless to say, the hashes must be calculated from a known good copy stored in a healthy medium if you want them to mean anything.

There's a known collision in SHA-1, but that's only relevant for security applications. For verifying (non-deliberate) data corruption, it still works fine.

on my way to change my files from sha-256 to sha-1. does it matter if i use "cracked" total commander ? in converting performance

Uh, I thought you weren't using anything. If you're already keeping SHA-256 hashes for your files, then continue using that, it's actually a more robust algorithm.

That's a silly question, why would it make a difference? The "crack" for Total Commander is actually just a key file that doesn't modify the program in any way.

so sha-256 is better ? idk about that. i was following what is "good" because every uploader always use sha-256 and idk what is that. i thought it's special protection from virus hehe

It's this pandemic stuff, nothing like it had happened before, so we have no idea of how to react

Anyway, don't forget to take a picture of your food and post it on Facebook before eating, that's the most important thing.
