But of course! Those things were for a select few when we were her age (and not anywhere near as powerful or capable), now they're part of almost everyone's reality, for good or bad

I don't know if today's kids are already that smart. The things she already knows... it's hard to believe she's so young.
On another note. Is it normal if your cores go over 90°C when playing video game?
Yes, especially if your settings are set to mid or high. But you shouldn't actually let it go this much though. On another note. Is it normal if your cores go over 90°C when playing video game?
I'm playing Shadow of War, and settings were by default on high/highest. It scares me, since it shows highest temp. 100°C.
First of all, your computer will shutdown automatically when the absolute maximum temperature is reached. So there's no risk of burning anything.
Second, if you have a desktop, learn to make wire management and clean your coolers. If on laptop, open it up and clean it.
It didn't shutdown yet. The only thing that happens ingame is my fps drop to 10 frames. I ALT+TAB and it's normal again. this happens every ~30mins.
Plus, there is one more possibility: you may have a faulty sensor. It happens.
90 to 100 degrees would also be worrying to me, even if the computer doesn't shut down and the processor can stand it. You may want to invest in a good cooler and silver thermal paste if you haven't already.
