Anyone here running anything on docker for their home server, and if so, what did you put in your lovely containers?
Not Docker, but I have two torrent clients and an FTP server for my LAN (which can be made to face the Internet to share files with myself and others on an unprivileged and secured account, although I haven't done that in some time).
Other ideas for a server you want to do something with are OpenVPN, Plex and airsonic, and https://github.com/awesome-selfhoste...ome-selfhosted has a huge categorized list.

Going over it, I immediately remembered setting up a pihole, but I got stuck pretty fast with my isp blocking the needed ports :(
How does that factor exactly? I thought pihole serves your LAN exclusively and doesn't need to be reachable from outside.Originally Posted by Sazzy

Ah, true. I'd recommend NextDNS or DNS66, but that defeats the entire point of using pihole to centralize this.

Anyone else have issues with their internet speeds when they bridge their VM network with the host? When NAT is enabled everything works great (e.g. internet share) but it's important for me that I don't have another NAT layer for everything to work as intended. However that result in my download speed tanking to a few kb/s, both on host and vm. No idea what's causing it and google has been little help. Could it be that it's because I'm bridging a wifi card?
It's almost less effort to just buy an old second hand pc to install Linux on

Yes. Wireless bridging is basically a different form of NAT, and a very hacky one that requires inspecting every frame in software to know what to do with it (that's also why it's IPv4-only). For best results, install the vmxnet3 adapter on the guest and bridge it to a wired PCIe adapter on the host.

I ended up giving up and just installing that one component natively instead of in the container.
Sandboxie is another possibility...
