Anyway, I think fifty years from now, I'll still remember both of them.

What people like that have you had in your lives?
Very true and for me mostly it comes to one science teacher who helped me believe in myself and another maths teacher who in ways he knew not helped me regain my confidence after an academic catastrophe.I will not go into details or it would be a wall of text

This is one of the reasons I hold teaching in such high regard it touches so many lives and even shapes the course of people's destiny and good teachers who nurture students enrich the world as a whole

I can't translate the whole thing but it basically shows all of these cool kids that don't have any education but have rich parents that give them crap to show off.

    @anon:

in addition to the above 'can we have it all' topic:

in the materialistic world we have numerous unrealistic wishes/desires (they are a result of the false self, impure) - from these only the realistic ones get fulfilled (free will, to each his own, those needed on one's path) and the unfulfilled rest result with negative feelings (increasing the karmic burden)

in the spiritual world, any wishes/desires are all realistic (they are a result of the true self, true to our real identity, pure), thus all get fulfilled (no free will obstacles) and there are no resulting negative feelings (beyond karma, beyond negativity)

so in the spiritual world you can have it all and you do have it all
'all' = whatever is aligned with your true self (why not something else? because it is not in your true nature to wish for something else, you only wish for that which is true to your spiritual identity, you play your spiritual role with perfection & purity, since you're in a perfect/pure state of being/existence)

even in the materialistic world you can have it all and you do have it all
'all' = whatever is needed on one's path, whatever happens to you in your materialistic life/existence/journey (why not something else? because nothing else will happen to you, except for that what lies on your path)

if you define 'all' as all there could possibly be or the like (godlike powers), then you cannot have it all (applies to: spiritual world & materialistic world)
if you define 'all' as all that you wish for or desire (personal expectations), then you can have it all (applies to: spiritual world)
if you define 'all' as all that you wish for or desire (personal expectations), then you cannot have it all (applies to: materialistic world) --> what your original post was referring to

    note:
materialistic world - where we currently live in
spiritual world - comes after transcendence, the next level

are you envious or do you hate them? if so, you're increasing your karmic burden (by entertaining such or any similar negative feelings)

these people are the product of the current age (of ignorance) and societies existing in this age, reflecting the situation in the society (what is cool or important or desirable in such a society and why) - all people want to become something more or better or cooler than what they are right now, however the majority think how this can be achieved with materialistic means (more money/status/degrees/possessions/...)

education does help but don't expect it to go beyond the mainstream/average level of the society providing the education - if the society is ignorant/corrupt, the education you get from them will reflect the same - if the leaders are ignorant/corrupt, the education you get from them will reflect the same

what helps most? parents/teachers/friends/conditions that go the extra mile (above the average level) and your readiness for something above the average (personal path alignment)

Actually, I ... enjoyed the video/situation. Gives a few laughs but the situation is not laughable. Not even a bit.

I have watched 50 shades of gray. Acting horrible, obviously. I only watched it for that BDSM stuff.
I know the inside out of all sexual fetishes, torture plays, even death play. I'm not impressed with anything I see anymore. And that playroom of his is not impressive, IMO.

I'll reply to the other posts (from #1588 onwards) when I've got some time, but right now just want to say this was a pretty shitty day for me.

Firstly, yesterday I dropped by the college I attended some years back prior to going to work, wanting a quiet place with Internet access to check the new posts here and read some of my tons of browser tabs. Got inside a small, empty classroom and opened my laptop. Five minutes later, these two people, a man and a woman, burst in almost like they had caught me trying to steal something, then asked me who I was, what the hell I was doing there instead of at some mandatory meeting for students attending that day, etc. By giving fake info and acting distressed about having "missed" said meeting ("damn it... can't believe this, thought today was Tuesday, how can this be fixed now?") convincingly enough, they let me go. I rushed to the exit since I didn't want anyone else pulling this same shit on me.

Today I went again, thinking nothing else would happen, and if by any chance I was wrong, may as well find out now. Well, security stopped me at the door and asked me to stay put because "the authorities said they want to talk to you". I initially thought I'd see what they have to say, but then realized that was a horrible idea with too much risk. As soon as someone else came through the door, I simultaneously walked out and away as fast as possible (no one tried to stop me).

Nothing bad happened per se, and I don't think there'll be police trouble or my face will show up on a "wanted" poster at the door. But it's clear to me I can't go back to that place ever again.

My day at work was thankfully pretty quiet, but then I'd find out they just won't give up regarding the mobile phone. My friend ordered a SIM card right in front of me, and wants to pay for everything out of her pocket *sigh* I still haven't found the way or will to tell them I don't want any of that shit, and even though I know their intentions are good, it's slightly offensive how they seem to think they must "save" me from a so-called flaw that's actually a willful choice and won't stop no matter what.

I feel somewhat stupid and angry with myself because this isn't really a problem (out of context, anyone would ask "you don't want a phone and free service?"), and a quick talk would clarify everything for all parties as well as putting the matter to rest, but for some reason I keep on delaying that.

Also, I think I could replace my Firefox profile for e-mail with a program that prints "You've got no messages because no one wants to talk to you" then exits, and there'd be no difference

    Thanks for reading.

But there's a wedding ring in his left hand, and I'd never make him betray his beloved

and probably does not understand such technicalities
We didn't go technobabble on him, just said we needed a new card because the computer that makes the connection had just been upgraded, and there were no slots where to put the old (PCI) ones we do have.

One of the other authorities also realizes our need, is pissed off by this situation and even offered to pay for the NIC out of his pocket, but I refused because that's not the way it should be. We have school funds, and they are meant to be used on stuff the school needs.

Try being an eight year old kid that never causes trouble and does everything he's told. It will get your parents worried and possibly land you in a psychologist. This may be one example of what you said some weeks ago about living on an unrealistic reality. Or perhaps all the things they tell you not to do are a sort of safety margin, so that you're breaking acceptable barriers when you finally go against them.

And in the second case I mentioned, she constantly provoked me, so that totally made my actions justifiable.

Agreed. The things you see, hear and learn so early on become fixated in you and can strongly shape who you are, even ten, twenty or thirty years down the road.

If you're exposed to people like this, great things can be in store for you later on. That's not fate (which I don't believe exists, by the way), just positive actions = positive results.

    A few comments:
At least in Germany: Hazet/Gedore > Proxxon when it comes to heavier tools in industrial enviroments.
Proxxon are really good Semi-Pro Tools and suitable for clean enviroments in Pro-Usage-Scenarios. Best bang for buck.
Knipex is definetly Pro, makes the best pliers you can get.
Also pro: Wera, Felo, Wiha , Stahlwill

Thanks for the heads up. The way I categorized them is by intensive usage:
pro - used everyday in construction sites
    semi-pro - used several times a week
household - used once or twice in a month, or an year.

This is how I would like to add them. Pro is not for industrial tools, just manufacturers that have the best quality tools.
Do you know of any more?

exposure itself is not sufficient, you need to be ready to accept that which you are exposed to, all involved parts need to align in such a way that the effect can reach its destination (fully/partially)

fate was explained before as 'the past', things that had to happen the way they did because of the way all involved parts acted - our idea that the past could have happened some other way is an illusion (and history proves it)

positive actions = positive results works but first one needs to know what exactly is a positive action - otherwise you sometimes get this: positive intentions = positive actions and 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions'
