    Out of the Furnace

Release Date: November 27, 2013 (limited; expands: Dec. 6)
    Studio: Relativity Media
    Director: Scott Cooper
    Screenwriter: Brad Ingelsby, Scott Cooper
Starring: Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoë Saldana, Sam Shepard
    Genre: Thriller
From Scott Cooper, the critically-acclaimed writer and director of "Crazy Heart," comes a gripping and gritty drama about family, fate, circumstance, and justice. Russell Baze (Christian Bale) has a rough life: he works a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill by day, and cares for his terminally ill father by night. When Russell's brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so - with nothing left to lose - Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother.

I would have to disagree on the statement of 'the most ruthless crime rings' part.
According to the justice department down in the States, the most ruthless crime rings that pose long-term criminal threats are the crime bosses that are further down in Mexico. Mexico is known as one of the major importers/producers of methamphetamines and cannabis. The Cartels are not someone to mess with. When we use the term 'ruthless', give me an opportunity to describe ruthless to you in the context of how 'ruthless' the Mexican Cartels are. Here's an example. There is a Cartel down in Mexico by the name of Los Zeta. They have a habit of targeting civilians. Just ordinary people.

Here's a really short example of how ruthless these people can be. In the year 2010 in some little village in Mexico called El Huizachal the Los Zeta's killed over 70 people. They massacred them because these immigrants from other parts of Central and South America did not have the ability to pay for their own ransom/kidnappings. These immigrants also refused to work for this Cartel as well. Eventually what happened is this immigrant, an Ecuadorian who survived a shot to the face and neck, ran away and made it to some kind of military checkpoint and then told what happened. Oh, and that's not all. We're also talking about bodies being beheaded on roadsides or hanging from bridges. Not a very nice photo op. Now if that isn't ruthless. Then I don't know what is. Hollywood has this unseeming ability to not be entirely correct with some things.
