Red face Napster - type of sofware ?

I was wondering, is there a fully working program where you just enter the name of a song and it connects to the server and lets you download it with no ads or "are you a robot?" type of security checks.
I don't enjoy downloading songs from torrents very much, and other type of sites are kind of overwhelmed by spam.

    Cheers guys, and marry Christmas.

Try Groovedown. Some artists aren't available, but otherwise it's exactly the kind of crap-free program you want.

I was reading a review on it just now and I noticed that

Users are advised to pay attention while installing this ad-supported application:

    · Displays ad banners or other types of advertising material during its runtime
    · Offers to change the homepage for web browsers installed in the system
    · Offers to change the default search engine for web browsers installed in the system
I guess it's kind of expected since the program is free and has to make it's money from some sort of revenue base to further development and optimization.
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

    Oh, oh. Better use LINUX.

Pick "custom installation", and untick both boxes. No junk will make it through then.

Most installers will let you do this, but sometimes the choice is pretty hidden or deceptive.

Although some components (observed with Ask toolbar, bundle.dll/askstub.exe or something it was called) will connect to the internet and do something, I didn't wireshark the connection but you get the idea.
So I stay away from these software or use an older/portable crap-free version.

although the above happens before reaching the step of unchecking them :)
