    ReactOS Main Thread

I'm opening this thread for discussions on an OS called ReactOS.
The project is very similar to Windows XP/2003 and is totally free of charge. Sadly, I know nothing about it. Which is why I want to discuss general usage, performance, space consumption, directX alternatives etc. etc.

The one thing about ReactOS that I do know is that it doesn't support NTFS and there are also a lot of problems with usb compatibility. It seems to be an adequate operating system at best. I looked at their support forums and read about quite a few other issues as well. ReactOs has been around a long time but with few upgrades. I'm not trying to change the topic, but you may want to consider visiting Distrowatch and look at literally hundreds of mostly free operating systems that offer great choices based on whatever hardware you're running. Another favorite is The LiveCD List .

I've always thought the idea behind ReactOS is great, but is it suitable for everyday use as it exists now? I expect driver and program compatibility would be the biggest problems. Slow development doesn't help either...

I have never used it in a production environment, I think it only deserves a virtualbox installation until it becomes more stable/complete.
