    Neoloader

A few months ago I stumbled upon a rather fascinating find. There is a multi network client called Neoloader. It has the capability to combine multiple sources into just one download. Out of respect for the developer of this client, I chose not to post any information about it until the beta testing was over and a public version was released. While this is not any type of illegal warez, (which is prohibited on this forum) I think it would be better to just post a short transcript and link to the description page of the client. Keep in mind that the link below is to a primarily german language based forum, so it would be a good idea to use something like google translate if you can't understand german. At the time of this post, registration is not required to view the article or links on that page.

Hello, We have now completed the linux (ubuntu 64 bit) and Mac OS versions. NeoLoader can download from multiple sources such as Torrent, hosters and eMule . Unlike other multi-network clients NeoLoader can combine these sources and combine files that belong together into a single download. Moreover NeoLoader decentralized provides Torrent keyword search (Kademlia based). A closer glance about the features:

    1.General Features
    •Automatic Update
•Executable Core / GUI separation, Core as a service / daemon
    •Win32/Linux/MacOS multiplatform
    •Web-based user interface under http://localhost:1600/WebUI/
•Combining resources of multiple networks on a Download

    2.ed2kMule support
    •Source Exchange
    •AICH
    •Kademlia
    •Protocol Obfuscation

    3.BitTorrent downloads
    •DHT, ALT tracker, UDP trackers
    •Peer Exchange
    •Torrent Magnet Links
    •Protocol Encryption
    •Torrent Keyword Search (Kademlia based)

    4.Hoster Download Engine
•Own scripting language support for hoster
    •JavaScript capable browser engine
    • Hoster magnet links

Other features such as anonymous file sharing (Irreversible Mash Routing in Space XOR) are already in the works. We look forward to your feedback. Hoster downloads work thanks to their own script engine and associated hosting scripts very well. However, missing for many hosters still the best scripts. If your favorite hoster is not yet supported so, then you can write to us like to contact a web host scripts for each Hoster. Happy testing!

Interesting. It looks like it is a mix of JDownloader, Internet Download Manager, eMule, and a torrent client all rolled up in one.

    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,

    Oh, oh. Better use LINUX.

When running the initial setup, the GUI is in german only. This a one time only process. The program simply asks what folder do you want the complete setup files to be installed in. By default it chooses the same directory the initial setup file is in. If you want to choose another location, click the tab next to the preselected location and choose another. Then click Installieren. That's it. The program will then go online and download the complete setup files. (The setup works similar to installing adobe flash) . It will create a new folder called Neolader. Then open up that folder and run Neolader.exe. By default the interface is in English. You are only given two choices for language. English and German. The program runs as a portable application.

well, it looks like a good idea if it can be properly implemented - judging by the very low number of users (and their forum activity regarding this program) i'd say this one still has a long way to go before it becomes something useful/satisfactory

    a few related problems:
    - emule network was/is mostly extremely slow so downloading a few kB/MB from there might not make a difference, shareaza & co. already tried combining downloading from multiple sources and it wasn't really effective, probably for the majority of users anyways
    - private torrent sites are usually fast enough and won't allow/whitelist such clients
    - public torrent sites have become less reliable regarding the number of seeders which may fluctuate a lot
    - hosters have become (or was it always so) very automated-downloading-unfriendly, just look at the continuous avalanche of plugin-out-of-date issues regarding jdownloader - this requires a bunch of people always fixing the plugins (annoying, time consuming, non-ergonomic), plus their speeds are generally shamefully low, captcha still has to be manually entered, etc.
    - there is an issue with hash-checking to ensure file integrity, seems the program would first have to do some extra downloading just to determine whether its the same file, which might turn out quite inefficient
    - retention is a huge issue regarding every single network, even usenet (data corruption after extended periods of time)

    what could be useful:
    - as a last resort solution for finishing incomplete downloads or re-downloading (no seeders, missing files or data chunks, corrupted files)
    - including additional sources (usenet, ftp/http, dc network,...) as an all-in-one solution or to create a platform compatible with already established programs (combining their output when necessary)
    - solving non-rar/rar-ed file compatibility for downloading purposes
    - real-time searching over many networks
    - fast proxy switching when needed
    - efficient connections usage, choosing faster and more stable sources
    - (many) more coders/testers/posts/activity

generally, multi-source (and cross-protocol or cross-platform) downloading should be doable but it seems there is a problem of compatibility (current solutions probably weren't designed to be mutually compatible, ie. their overall standardization is lacking) - this could be something that future versions might finally resolve, but there would have to be a wide relevant consensus geared towards that goal which is usually easier said than done, especially when a significant amount of time has passed since their inception, implementation & divergence

Developing is active and 0.35c version is out, even if there are bugs remaining (as expected for a totally new client like this).

No one tested it or is interested to test?

    Hi,

A lot of changes during the last year.

There are still a lot of bugs but its a lot better compared with the client that you tried.

Please give it a try (once again)
