    The Last Stand

    Release Date: January 18, 2013
    Studio: Lionsgate
    Director: Kim Jee-Woon
    Screenwriter: Andrew Knauer, Jeffrey Nachmanoff
Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Jaimie Alexander, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Harry Dean Stanton, Genesis Rodriguez
    Genre: Action
Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

This title reminds me of the atrocious X-men movie of the same name. Loved the other movies though.

Anyways, I see Schwarzenegger is back in acting. My man! Good for him.

Part of the plot in this film is totally unrealistic. "....law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever" That would be incorrect. Law enforcement agencies throughout the world cooperate well with one another. One of the reasons there exists INTERPOL.

Also, "...the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere " That statement I also find unrealistic. The Mexican Cartels, as far as I know, have this greater distinction. Both for ruthlessness in dealing with their rivals and/or opposition. Among other characteristics that is.
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

Ya, I know it's HOllywood. Rehashing the same old themes over and over.
The first part of the recipe is change the face of the actors/actresses. Then get the bad guys, destroy some stuff along the way, kill or beat-up some people along the way, lose or hurt someone close to the main character, do it all over again in the next movie.

    ordain them laws".

    mkay, lol

the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere
that would be the cia (or some of its departments if you like)

is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement
guess the usa law enforcement goes faster than 200 mph, eh? or the kingpin races across the whole hemisphere, not to mention that no kingpin of anything does things like that

Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.
wow, a 65-year old (arnie) & his trusty deputy? (knoxville as lewis dinkum ?!) vs. some rich couch warrior (that saw too many 'death race' or 'mad max' movies), mowing down his cartoon army while knoxville does his jackass jokes...and who are the real jackasses here...i'll leave that one to imagination hehe

anyways, since the expendables 2-part debacle, seems it is time for (just about) all the former action heroes/actors to continue 'losing face' over and over again, probably until they reach the level of the (majority of) current generation representatives, participating in a new era of worthless action movies
