      Vuze Change Log

      Installation:
      1. Download and install Vuze (if this is a Beta/CVS update, download the latest NON BETA release) (Vuze : Java BitTorrent Client - Download).
      2. BACK UP YOUR TORRENT LIST! IT IS LIKELY YOU WILL LOSE IT!
      3. Optional: If you want to make a backup of your old Vuze version. Go to the install directory and rename Azureus2.jar to Azureus2.jar.bak
      4. Extract the files using WinRAR (WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files) or equivalent to %PROGRAMFILES%\Vuze (C:\Program Files\Vuze) and overwrite ALL files.
      5. Run Vuze and Enjoy!
NOTE: For other operating systems simply replace the Azureus2.jar. For 64-bit, portable, and Vuze Plus support read the README in the appropriate package.

      Troubleshooting:
Before posting problems please make sure:
      1. You have updated Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to version 6 (Java SE Downloads).
      2. You have removed the Vuze folder in %PROGRAMFILES% (C:\Program Files\Vuze).
      3. You have removed the Vuze folder in %APPDATA% (The folder may be hidden).
      C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Vuze for XP
      C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Vuze for Vista
      4. Reinstalled Vuze using the package from Vuze : Java BitTorrent Client - Download
      5. Re-applied the hack from the downloaded archives.

Warning: Performing steps 2 and 3 will wipe your torrent list and Vuze settings.

      Enjoy!

Certainly. Just make sure the "quick add" option is disabled, then add the torrent having deselected all the files first. Then do this. If you hadn't finished downloading everything before deleting the torrent, you can even use the ratio tool with a custom %, instead.

I've configured VEM to not cheat when there's no peers conected to me. Problem is, peers just won't connect. The "retrieve peers" settings are made for that? To get peers connected somehow? Didn't quite get the meaning of "retrieve" in this case. Also, why is the numbers so high? 100 mininum?

That setting will do nothing at best, and get you banned otherwise. So don't worry about it. Just use another, more active torrent. Or you can turn the danger level up a notch and remove your connection requirement...

When I delete your post with reason "use the search engine" you might want to do just that, you know?

C'mon, you sent me the link to the Tutorial, send him too

Btw, today I didn't come to ask, but to suggest a feature.

As I said before, a global upload limit would be really useful. It's hard to keep track of upload speed when you have lots of torrents, when it's easy to achieve hundreds of 'em. I had some kind of strategy, which was set upload to 0-300kBps while the ratio was below 1.8-2.0, and after that, set the speed to 0-10kBps. That way the torrent wouldn't just simply die, he'd still be active, announcing, plus it would be less suspicious since it'd still have a little bit of traffic. BUT, for instance, I had more than 80 torrents active in uT. So that would way higher than what my ISP allows.

With a global upload limit, it would be like this: Even with 100 torrents with peers connected, it could split the upload speed between them, let's say 3kBps each. It's low, but still has some traffic. But if there were less, let's say just 10 torrents with peers, the upload split would be 30kBps each. Also, the feature could be smart and set priorities, allocating a speed proportional to the number of peers connected.

That way, you'd most probably always upload at the speed range you set, even with multiple torrents activated. Also, would be less suspicious, since lots of torrents uploading seems ok, while just one uploading at full speed isn't that much.

Even though the per torrent ratio could be low, the overall ratio would always increase, plus it'd announce, so the ratio isn't that important.

    Well, that's it, I guess

It's been suggested a couple of times in the past. I don't remember why it's not been implemented.

Since what who you downloaded/uploaded to isn't reported to the tracker... it is not all that much to worry about. However, I have had the best luck (as in never gotten caught) with inflating your actual upload amounts... realistically. Don't configure it to double your actual upload, but add about 1/4 to 1/8 to what your actually uploading. And like the man said, find a more active torrent.

Weird. After starting using VEM something really weird is happening. After a while, suddenly all the applications that interact with the internet freezes. All but Vuze. Xfire, browsers, WLM, Skype... but not Vuze. Also, when that happens, Vuze's process cannot be terminated. Why is that.

This sort of freezes can have different causes, here are some articles that may help:
    Good settings - VuzeWiki
    Reduce CPU usage - VuzeWiki

If you're running a firewall, try turning it off. Make sure you're on the latest JRE, also.

All my settings were almost the same as the links's. But I think I found out what the problem was. My Firewall, ZoneAlarm. It's running perfectly ever since I have uninstalled it.

This the first time i use Vuze at all.Its an incredible mod but i need some advice. In utorrent i have an option to increase disk cache to 1800 MB of memory to be able to use my full speed ( 10 Mb/s ) but with Vuze i can download up to 5 maybe 6 if i dont do anything on the pc.
Anyone knows how to increase memory usage to 2 GB ( i have 4 GB on my system ).I tried changing in option max dynamic memory but nothing happened :(
    Thanks for this amazing mod.

That's funny, most people want to reduce their memory usage with this mod.

There were some JRE command-line parameters to limit the amount of memory Azureus is allowed to use. With different amounts, you could set a large amount. ghostfucker can probably tell you more as he's the Java-meister
