    quit utorrent with .bat file

Hi, I use the updater.bat which will download & extract the ipfilter.dat for uTorrent and then run uTorrent. As far as I know you can't update the ipfilter.dat inside uTorrent as long as uTorrent is running (except you refresh one torrent?)?. So it there a way to quit uTorrent in a safe way and then to the ipfilter.dat update ?

    Thanks

If you disable the ipfilter, replace the file, and then re-enable it (or replace the file, then right-click somewhere in the Peers tab and choose "reload ipfilter"), you won't have to exit the program.

Yes, but I think he wants the update to be "automatically", so that wouldn't be an option.

Indeed, I want to do it automatically. If there is some command line option to disable/refresh it then I could do that as well.

I don't think there is any.
The only way, which for sure isn't a good one at all, I know for now is using VBS instead of bat and using SendKeys to simulate keyboard presses to control utorrent.

In that case, all I can think of is using a program to terminate uTorrent, swap the ipfilter.dat file and restart the client, which was his original idea. There was a method to end applications cleanly through the command line, it involved EndTask or WM_CLOSE or something.

Unless uTorrent has a command-line parameter to reload the IP filter.

Well I only can script in "AutoIt" and as far as I know the only way to quit utorrent.exe is by killing the process.. which won't send an update to the tracker? Don't know about any command line option like that for utorrent :S

Then you might want to submit that to their idea bank

I use 2.2.1 and will never upgrade to 3.x.. so that won't help me ;D .. I wonder if I can somehow "fake a shut down event" to utorrent.. that will quit utorrent safely.

im sure there is a way to have autoit quit utorrent properly. if not you can have it send the keystrokes to do it.

Locate uTorrent (it could be in the taskbar, or tray), open its window, send Alt+F, send X, send Y if exit confirmation is enabled. Wait until utorrent.exe closes. If you can do that with AutoIt...

God you are awesome ! ;D

Thanks.. I also need to re-script my automatic enable/disable upload limit (depending on if my laptop is running or not) so this will be easy to implement :)
