I have downloaded the 1st and 2nd seasons of the television show but haven't got around to watching it just yet. Yoco, did you watch this film? This was my first insight into "inbetweeners" so I may have found it extra funny but you should definitely check this film out.

ugh, this movie was extremely bad, crude & tasteless - the actors were behaving like mindless drones, it was stuffed with unlikable/obnoxious/annoying characters & lines - after the club scene it got a well-deserved shift+delete (ex)termination

basically, it represents the bottom of the so-called dumb/idiotic/stupid comedies, where the (new) lows are reached by further stripping the characters of anything that might hint at being more than faceless one-dimensional caricatures and by presenting the jokes in the crudest possible & highly straightforward/repetitive fashion, often fixated on topping any previous cinematographic role model, ie. taking the easiest/cheapest/no-brainer way: towards the extremes

seems this kind of degradation of an already borderline problematic (sub)genre became wide-spread (or predominant) somewhere around the early 2000's, for example with the decline of genre-representative actors like jim carrey and the rise of the next-gen actors like tom green, while nowadays the current-gen actors remain as faceless & unremarkable as their cinematographic vessels

for better movies (parodies included) from this sub-genre see:

    Dumb And Dumber (1994)
    Hot Shots 1,2 (1991,1993)
    Loaded Weapon 1 (1993)
    The Naked Gun 1,2,3 (1988,1991,1994)
    Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
    American Pie (1999)
    Jane Austens Mafia! (1998)
    Not Another Teen Movie (2001)
    Scary Movie (2000)

Sorry to hear that you didn't like it :( This is one of those movies where you turn off your brain and just enjoy what ever is on the screen. I honestly did not know what to expect and went ahead and started to watch the film thinking that this is one of those B-grade films which I will skim through and delete half-way through but I got hooked once I started to watch it.

I understand this genre of comedy is not everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoyed it and found it funny as hell.

And yes, the club scene was way too funny. haha.

As we both know, this isn't something new for Hollywood. I never watched this film but from what I've read here I don't think I need to. It comes as no surprise that Hollywood often ridicules family values and portrays sex and violence as noble endeavors

Have a look at what I mean....

    IMDB LINK
the exploits of four friends, who are socially only marginally above what one of them calls "the freaks", are presented as they grow from their late teen years into adults and as they go on their quest, usually unsuccessfully, for such grown up things as beer and sex...
    quest...endeavors.....

    family values.....beer and sex.....

    My point is made.

The reason why Hollywood sucks-so-much-it's-lips-turn-blue is b/c the problem lies with Wall Street down in the States. People with poor acting skills and also perhaps without any actual star power are still pushed as if they were stars on the screen. The result is that every star thinks that they have power of some kind coupled with their new found 'stardom'....which does not amount to much for these low-ranking stars (if you can even call them that).

As we were briefly talking about in the other thread these actors try to rewrite scripts as they see it fit. If some screenwriter fails to incorporate onto some poor dog of an actor’s suggestions, said screenwriter is fired. Interestingly enough on the flip side, if a scriptwriter's work earns the respect and approval of an actor, then said writer becomes a golden egg. Inspite of the idea that some of these actors and actress's think that they are so high up on the totem pole, they still have influence on the film's directors.

It also makes me wonder that they must be posting Want-Ads down there for film directors. If you wanted to work in Hollywood with absolutely no skills whatsoever, you could do so by applying to become a film director----no experience required!!

Still, directors have to answer to the Studios and Studio executives must be hired and fired like your flipping pancakes for a Saturday morning free breakfast at the town-hall and everyone in town is invited. So get flipp'in!!

Another thing. If some film that was produced in the past, the exec can claim that b/c it worked in the past, he'll just say "Hey!! It worked before" So now you know why film having content that resembles 'deja-vu' is prevelant in Hollywood these days.

You want to know what else clogs the Hollywood system these days as well?? Ever heard of nepotism?? Grand chldren born of the Hollywood breed are placed in studio exec and production positions. They're not placed in these positions b/c they have done anything great for Hollywood but moreso b/c they have got the family connections.

And another thing that is so obvious and which I touched on above with respect to the "Wall Street" comment is that Hollywood, as you know, is run like any other kind of business. It’s all about business. Things like marketing, product placement, and even such things as film sequels are destroying original film-making/ production and screenwriting skills. But you can't put all the blame on Hollywood.

    No sirree, you can't!!

Until audiences start to see what horrible films Hollywood can produce (not all but some), Hollywood is just going to keep on churning out sub-par films. It's like the Everyready Bunny. Ever seen it on TV commercials??......"It just keeps going and going"
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

John Milton (1608-1674) in Paradise Lost

and the worst thing about it is: they have no intention of improving - neither their system nor their products, in fact it is more useful to industrially churn-out near-garbage than it is to actually put some genuine (personal/innovative/thoughtful/truthful) effort into (elements of) each film-making process, not to mention easier - their modus operandi is, among others, to exploit whatever they can as long as they can, its like milking a cow until it drops near-dead, then either pump-it-up full of drugs & milk it some more or get a new cow & repeat ad nauseam - in general: at the current rate the (able) cows are running out fast, their milk of ever lesser quality, its effect on the users of ever lesser nutritional value, or outright turning from food to poisonous/toxic waste, leaving its mark on the users in the form of dumbed-down automated consumers addicted to their daily dosage, lowering their criteria even further (since there is supposedly no better alternative) as the next generations of viewers arrive, who don't know any better than the currently available fodder (aside from the current fodder being the most consumed, their devolved logic naturally dictating that everything old must be bad/obsolete/worthless/primitive) - this can be observed today, where near-complete cinematographic garbage gets rated as if it were a masterpiece, causing consternation among more experienced viewers - some of it is due to manipulated votes, but the majority is due to the near-clueless next-gen viewers ready to lap-up what gets served, praise what gets authoritative/established/green-lit praise (and vice versa), feeling real cozy fitting in their pre-arranged societal molds, fixating their attention on the carrot, just like good obedient servants do - this happens in every generation of movie-goers, it just has more severe effects as time goes by (increased overall degradation), as the cow runs dry, as the newcomer's or addict's brain cells wave goodbye - it is a part of the deceptive/destructive/exploitative way of the holy wood wizards/illusionists

interestingly enough, the final degradation is inevitable regardless of the invested care, however it sure doesn't need to be so blatantly rushed, essentially, the industry would mostly prefer if they could get away with a scenario like: serving pure garbage to zombified users (where the pharma industry is aimed) at near-zero cost/effort via automated/robotic contents factories

even more interestingly, such extremist/inconsiderate industrial behavior is actually useful to those interested in figuring out whats going on, where is this headed, whats its relevance (most importantly: personal relevance),..., since it is easier to monitor/notice significant/observable changes as opposed to smooth/silent/slow ones
