    Establishing a wireless network

I have a pc connected to a Micronet ADSL modem/router via a usb cable. Now I have a wireless capable laptop and a linksys E1000 wireless router . I want to connect the router to modem so I can have a wireless network to use with my laptop.

I tried connecting the router to the modem using the Ethernet cable provided with router and then installing the driver cd that comes with it in laptop . now laptop recognizes the router but for some reason I have no Internet connection in my laptop. apparently the problem is the connection between modem and the router.

I use the modem in bridge mode and put the router in PPPoE mode with my ISP's username/password.
the DHCP and NAT is enabled in both modem and router(maybe I should disable them in router!).

    but so far no success.

    any help is greatly welcome.

Have you put the Ethernet cable in the correct port?
Most router have a special port used for internet connection.

It's better if you let DHCP remain ON. As shoulder mentioned, check if you have connected the Ethernet cable(at the router end) to the TOP/FIRST port. This is usually the Internet port. Else everything seems fine.

EDIT: Just noticed that it is clearly mentioned "Internet" over the port on your router so I don't believe you could go wrong there.

positive.according to router's setup instructions one end goes to the yellow Internet port of the router and the other end goes to the Ethernet port of the modem.

Get another ethernet cable from a friend and see if the wired connection works.

Just but the linksys into DHCP mode, it's easier to get away with it, and easier to debug. Do a two step config:
    1. Connect laptop to modem with the utp cable and make sure it works.
    2. Do the final connections without modifying anything and test ping availability: notebook-wlan router, notebook-modem, notebook internet in this order.
