    Disk Overload since uTorrent 2.2.1

Hey, I normally NEVER had Disk Overload Errors in uTorrent 1.6.1.. I used it for ages and also downloaded big packs (200GB+) but never had that error. Since I updated to uTorrent 2.2.1 I constantly get that error when adding torrents. Both on my laptop and homeserver (both dual core 2 duo 2,5 & 2,7 ghz, 4 gb ram). Today I also added a new 1,5 TB HDD and wanted to download a 50GB torrent pack.. Disk Overload 100% again :/

my disk cache settings are (those are the options I checked.. rest is unchecked):
Reduce memory usage when the cache is not needed
    Enable caching of disk writes
    Enable caching of disk reads

It came with the first day of using 2.2.1 :/

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

@edit: the only security product is Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE)
@edit2: also while disk overload 100% I just tried to copy smth from my laptop to the hdd of my homeserver (the one that is overloaded) and it won't work :S

Hmm the help file says that this should actually reduce the disk overload?

The dreaded "Disk overload" error has been around for many years. I first encountered it in ver 1.6, therefore, it has nothing to do with your upgrade to 2.2.1.xxxxx.
And since ver 1.6 I have not found a way to fix this and I've tried hundreds of different settings from various forums/blogs, changed hard drives, tried with/without anti-viral products and nothing worked.
Sorry if I couldn't be more helpful.

I have only encountered the disk overload error when doing video encoding and heavy downloading.

had this also with speeds higer than 8MB\sec. set writing to disk to minimum -> set memory cache to maximum (like 512mb) and untick all sub-checkboxes for enabled caching.

still overloading. i think utorrent 3.0.0 is inherently flawed and buggy. never had this while using 2.2.1 *sigh*

rukawa: I never had it while using 3.0.0

It'd probably be a good idea to just downgrade, however. I'm somewhat obsessive about using the latest versions of stuff, but to be honest there isn't much in 3.x for the regular user, and I can perfectly understand the frustration at its new look and "features".

It's solved for some users on utorrent forum here and here.

    [Solved] for me
    change your
    diskio.coalesce.write = 209715
To fix this, go to Task Manager, then processes, and set "uTorrent.exe" to high priority. Enjoy.
In order to solve this very very very very very very annoyng problem go to:

Options->Preferences-> click on "+" in fornt of "Advanced"->Disk Cache-> uncheck "Enable cache of disk writes".

It worked for me. I hope it will work for all.
Increase disk cache size (Properties ->Advanced->somewhere in there) ... I have mine at 128 or 256 or something ... uTorrent only uses the capacity if it needs it anyways so you can set it to an astronomical number if you want.

I used to get the "disk overloaded" when uTorrent tries to allocate my 40+GB torrents .... my connection can easily fill the default cache in the amount of time it takes to allocate.
I have posted yesterday....nothing happen no moderator or administrator have answered....and I have tried some settings on my computer.....and some of my friends and worked....before you apply this settings uninstall any version of utorrent....and install the latest version from the home page(µTorrent 2.2.1 build 25130 ) then this

even 500 for disk cache it's ok

after applying this settings restart utorrent

I tried only one option and it worked. It was Pre-allocate files to disk.
I don't like to fiddle around with disk cache settings as it increases the memory used by utorrent. Basically, if you set that 500MB, wouldn't utorrent add 500MB + 500MB and so on each time disk overloaded error appears?

It'll slow speeds to a trickle until the disk ceases to be overloaded, and not go above the limit you've set. That way it will neither worsen the problem nor consume astronomical amounts of memory.

Changing the disk cache settings from their defaults is a good idea if you have a high-speed connection and/or seed for extended periods of time. It'll extend your disk's lifespan by only using it when really necessary. Disabling this (as per one of the quotes above) is a very bad idea unless you know exactly what you're doing.
