I run mR in a windows VM all the time :-)

It's really easy to set up a VM with vmware, and the impact on the host's resources is not that big

Running a W7 guest with with mR and 160 torrents seeding translates into an average cpu usage of 6% and 30MB of ram

Well, I suppose I could run DSL, install the client and then capture packets from the Windows side. But Linux is a bit hard for me. Last time I tried to make a text-mode game work it was a small odyssey. apt-get, packages and stuff...

That's great, D3TR1TUs! We have older rT clients, so in theory all you'd need to do is stop and start any Ubuntu torrent a few times while the packet sniffer of your choice captures all traffic on port 6969. Then you send a dump of the latter to me.

App store? In Windows I just need to run the installer for the stuff I want

    lol
post edited, i meant what you need
I know how to install stuff in linux XD

@anon aptitude and apt-get are just installers/package managers for linux. and you also have synaptic that is noob friendly :)

So you you want all communications with the tracker, but not the peers, since mratio doesn't connect with them, right?

    I'll try this tomorrow

I should spare some time of my life to researching this wonderful world that other OSes are, but once again laziness kicks in

    Sounds great, thanks in advance.

Yeah, while installing Apache2 for example on Windows looks like this:
Search the internet for a binary, download it, locate it, install it.

The Linux way is this one:
    Code:
    sudo
    apt-get install apache2
    Now, which one wins?
Of course, it isn't as easy as this all times.

    Ok it's done :)
I'll pm anon with the file
I used rtorrent 0.8.6, if you want i'll do for 0.8.9 while i'm at it

the capture has all communications with the tracker, if you just want to see the announces, you can use [ frame matches "GET" ] as filter

i also noticed in rtorrent you have an option to force scrape the tracker

Thank you very much for this tool :) You saved my account as I wasn't seeding fast enough on a new site (must maintain over .25 and I downloaded a 100GB pack) so I was able to get the bare minimum and keep seeding at my pitiful 30kb speeds haha.
