well kaspersky internet security was best 3 years ago ..after 1 and a half years its virus definations became shit.. i right clicked on virus n scanned it no virus lol.. it was full updated and it crashes your system.. now virus definations are good but still i can't consider it best

bit defender is good option its just aboe average

avast n avg are no good at all

    microsoft is joke

i rather keep a virus in my sytem than to use noton the heavy resource eater

I prefer G-data internet and avira internet security

i prefer avira internet security 2012 more ..its the best acc to me .. and yea for firewall use komodo firewall ..its the best

Well, I 've been using Comodo AV and for me it's quite good. It's easily up-datable and I don't have to worry about cracks and keygens and so forth b/c it's free.

I think kaspersky is the best one, I haven't been keeping up on them but for awhile it was definitely the best at detecting packed files.

I'm definitely not forgetting how cumbersome Norton products were around half a decade ago, but I thought they had fixed that these days?

I was going to test Norton 360, but after it refused to install I said "screw it" and dedicated my time to something else.

Norton products have been *fixed* and these days they are actually in front of most competitors when it comes to resource hogging and scan speed. Despite all that I still steer clear of their products as I have that bitter taste of the golden age when Norton was the end of any activity while it was running.

You never know where you can catch an infection may or may not be an exe; could even be by visiting a sly website. I am all for protection. After all, isn't it better than cure?

Don't go shopping for antiviruses without reading this site first, it is a must for me !!!

    AV-Comparatives - Independent Tests of Anti-Virus Software - Welcome to AV-Comparatives.org

You will notice that antiviruses go up and down in detection level and in general no one is perfect 100% specially if you install on an infected PC or don't have a good firewall to aid it.

I have been using NOD32 for a couple of years because I had trouble with Kaspersky updates (2-3 years back), I don't feel NOD32 is the best but if you stay away from danger you will be generally safe!

Recently I used a USB thumb that was sitting in my room for a month after being given to some dummy! I was infected with a lovely trojan that until now I don't know how it worked, it had no ini file, autoplay was off, so NOD32 missed a trojan that has been out there for at least a month, I used online file scan virustotal.com and all antiviruses said it is a tojan except NOD32 and Panada and Malwarebytes (which I removed it after I discovered its a time waster).

What saved my life was the firewall Comodo , it never before acted in this way, usually firewall stuff In & out and some few: program a riding program b (kids stuff) but this time it was a virus alert (not defence+) although I have only the firewall not including antivirus services , it said: " .UnclassifiedMalware@1 " so it stopped it from doing more damage and just copying itself to another non-system drive and stopped it there also.

For Firewall reviews and for some shocking results, that's why I got Comodo in the first place:

    http://www.matousec.com/projects/pro...ge/results.php

And for people saying adult sites are infected, believe me home decoration sites are more infected than adult sites, moms can't handle PCs so they get infected as a site owner and a visitor, adult sites visitors are ... prepared ! and these sites generate more cash than stealing credit cards so why infect the cow !! funny!!
