Do you remember that movie where Jason Statham plays a badass, serious dude who has very little sense of humor, and needs to get to one important person to either save or kill them?

Hehe yeah that's the point I was making.

Jason Statham always plays a badass whichever movies he's in.He's one of the most typecast actors ever.

Sort of like Michael Cera where he is an awkward, lanky teen who stutters a lot and has very little confidence until something changes in him and then he gets a hot girlfriend or Adam Sandler where he is a half retarded goofy guy who works really hard to get a girl who's way out of his league, yet ends up with her anyway.

Really irritating actor to me, Jason Statham.

So your point was that you don't like him?
I neither like him or dislike him. I just watch the movies!

    Based on a true story
that would probably be the 'assassin lured out of his refuge' part, the rest is just inflation of action moves trying to top previous role-models, meaning forget the true story drivel

who is lured out of retirement to rescue his mentor
watch rambo 3 instead, surely more enjoyable than some new-age wannabes aspiring to a similar level of bad-ass-ness

he is there simply to enhance statham's weak appeal/abilities, otherwise it would be just another predictable statham flick

the same goes for the other two actors you mentioned as well, though with a silly juvenile script exercising imagination in all the wrong places, any actor with much better skills would find it quite hard trying to drag the role/movie towards something worthwhile or decent

every actor, no matter how incompetent or irritating, can be a successful movie character if used properly/skillfully (by the scriptwriters or the director), examples for statham:

    Mean Machine (2001)
    Snatch (2000)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)

I have to admit I love him in Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Those two movies are amazing!
