i only very recently watched the original trilogy - it's brilliant - a nice change from the standard hollywood junk that fills cinemas - but this remake, will no doubt prove once again, that hollywood screws up great stories better than anyone!

the books are awesome too - definitely a trilogy to check out

that ghastly zeppelin cover already ruined it for me.
but seriously, i have no doubt hollywood will either screw this up royally or only do a remake of the first movie. cause that's how they always are.

the 2009 version of this movie was a boring worthless piece of junk, dragging along through some silly decades-long unsolved mystery with a duo consisting of a lame journalist and a s&m punk girl playing the detectives, nothing worth remembering

the story is implausible from the start and they just keep sinking deeper into unbelievability until ofc at some point later on the solution presents itself, as usual through a lucky strike - this one doesn't even seem interesting from the trailer, similar trash, this time merely with a bigger budget and some more famous names

    it sucked...big time

one of the reasons it got better ratings than it deserves is the fact it comes from europe (as opposed to hollywood), following the stereotype that european movies (the same largely applies to asian ones too) must be better than the (surely) commercialized ones out of usa, which means that a lot of non-usa w*nkery gets interpreted as artistic, ie. scoring better

the other might be the behavior, choices & events that the female character is exercising/making/experiencing (female denigration/exploitation) as opposed to her movie partner, who serves as a role model for male persons & the media status (primarily in sweden, since afaik the movie industry there is fully? controlled by the state, meaning that anything going against their vision of the swedish society is going to be censored out and re-adjusted to fit their political views) and so on

now, regardless of the underlying agendas, if the movie was at least done in an interesting way, one might say it was decent, however they failed there too, thus it gets the WC rating from me, as in Worthless Cr*p
