98 Was Used for many years , even after xp was released , a number of users didn't used it until 98 wasn't supported by MB Companies.
as a user i used 98 for many years even after xp , i still like 98 till these days , even hope that i can work with it but no program support , no updates ...etc

that's what Microsoft & other's do , they cut the support on a certain os so you go & buy the new one or they will lose money . Like Halo 2 support only vista & so on...

    If you liked 98, you'll love NT4.

    I know I did.

I used 98 for a long time after XP came out, too.
I had to buy a new machine for the upgrade. >_<

    I never tried NT though,
thinking it was mostly used in networked (LAN) envirnoments.

It's usable on non-networked computers as well. Just like Windows Server 2008 can be installed on a workstation

    1. People who use IE doesn't know what "upgrade" or "browser" is and how to do upgrading at all.
, Absolutely true man, Most of the people where I live do exactly the same ( Those who use the computers for working purposes only and dont know if there is any other OS exist then XP). A little advance users that I frequently come across often ask "how to download a movie via Bittorrent?"

    On topic:
Only 1 reason - Because firefox is around.

Windows users has Windows update on in most cases. It will auto-update to the latest version. :)

i haven't used internet explorer as a main browser for around ten years now, but, i.e. hating aside, the latest build is lovely to use (on a gui level at least).

unfortunately for ms, that's as far as my testing goes, as i.e. is one of the staple targets for any malware coder, making it a big no-no for general usage in my book...
