AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor

So yesterday I got this processor. It's suppose to be the best for old motherboards with Socket A.
I installed it correctly, start the PC, and at post screen I imagined that it would say that I have 3200+, but instead it was 2200+ (1.7Ghz). So in a way I was shocked. Is that suppose to be like that? I thought that it should be 3200+ from that start, so I can overclock it some more. Instead now I overclocked to 2800+, and I'm not sure if I should try it some more. My temp is already over 50°C.
I have an Asrock K7S41GX motherboard, my FSB is currently 195. You guys think I should give it a shot? What's the max temp for processors to handle?

The correct FSB for an Athlon XP 3200+ is FSB400 (200MHz FSB-Clock)
Multiplicator is 11.

But your board doesn't support FSB400 official:
ASRock > Products > K7S41GX

FSB 333/266/200

There are two posibilities:
1. Use it with a lower clock
2. Clock the FSB to 200MHz

Temps up to 68°C at full load are ok.
But lower is allways better.

You may take a look at your CPU voltage - normal are 1.5V up to 1.65V.
Maybe the mainboard has a slightly to high voltage. -> take a look at the bios.

I clocked the FSB to 200Mhz, waiting to see if it'll crash!
I found this about voltage:
- Over Vcore Voltage: +6%
- VCCM VOltage: 2,73V (I also have two more options, 2,58 & 2,62)

Hey! My father has an Athlon XP 3200+, too.

I have a 3000+ myself. Little off topic, the first time you install it (or after doing a CMOS reset), you have to change its bus frequency in the BIOS. Otherwise the computer will use the wrong clock speed and refuse to boot. At least that's how it is in my Asus A7N8X-X.

Never actually overclocked it, though. I actually tried underclocking it, so that it'd live longer, because it's unlikely that I'll be able to buy a new computer anytime soon. I think 50°C is fine, that's usually what my chip is at after opening my usual programs, posting, etc. Just make sure you're careful and have good cooling if you're going to push it further!

I checked the temp and it was 64°C :o
