hehe - i love it - only 3 downers for me...
1) regenerating health. gamers these days are pussies. i didn't think this would even be in the game.
2) 2 weapons per time. wtf?!
3) linear as hell. dn3d was linear in parts, and hugely open and maze like (branching) in others - what happened?
either way - i still love it - this game only came out due to the real fans wanting it - pretty much everyone who's hating it obviously never grew up with the series.
the negatives on my little list above all boil down to one thing - modern fps traits being shoehorned into an old style fps - end of...
i grow up with duke the game i dont hate the new one but for taking more then 12 years to make this game i thought it will be sp speciell but its nto that deferrent from any other games the release today if u understand me :)
^i know what you're saying - it's easy to have fond memories of old games that you haven't played for years - when you revisit them, some of them are bad, but a lot are still decent - the problems come with the new things that are added to meet current trends, which is definitely the wrong way to do things.
xcom and syndicate come to mind right away.
both are pitched to be fps games now.
yeah, it's enough to bring tears to anyone who loved the originals. all a lot of old games need is a repaint at higher resolutions, support for new hardware and they'll sell - no gimmicks needed.
the gog project is a shining example of this, and it's generating a lot of money (gog.com).
dnf was never going to be something special though - no game can live up to 12 years of hype - it's an impossible bar to pass...
either way - i like it a lot
