Any more tips and tricks about maintaining your battery? I bought a used laptop and it's all good except for the part where the battery lasts only like 30 minutes. I found some tips on the net but most of them are the same stuff copy and pasted. I'm asking the experienced users out here

(Wish anon would be on the irc when I join...)

I would personally start saving up for a new one in that case, as it will only get worse and worse and soon it will be depleted in 5ish minutes (happened to my laptop at work)

Use Windows 7 with the power saver plan. Tweak that yourself. Avoid using wireless connectivity or charging things via USB, those are true and pure battery vampires. And obviously, try to avoid anything that's intensive on the processor and/or hard drive.

Oh, if the battery really is lasting just 30 minutes, then it's a goner. Get a new one.

When I see that a battery for this is 100 bucs and the whole laptop was just 200( second hand of course) it makes me laugh

Anew Macbook will be on the way maybe for Christmas .... I wish

Anyway, battery is in the fridge and I'm just on AC now. Since I saw that on so many sites I guess it's true.

if your battery is screwed, you don't always have to buy a new one - there are a handful of companies (depending on where you are in the world) that charge a fraction of the price of a new battery to replace the power cells in your existing laptop battery. google around - recellyourbattery.com is a random example, but a number of people offer the service - just pick on that looks good and is in your country (to avoid hefty shipping charges).

btw - the technique is known as 'recelling', so your searches should include the word 'recell'

Found some new batteries at 70$ on the net and from sites in Romania it costs 100... WTF?
Anyway I'm buying a new one soon. The rest is OK I guess. The keyboard requires a little bit stronger push on buttons than most laptops but it's not an inconvenient that big. For this price I' even surprised all the buttons work

Nice, I didn't even know you could do that.

Maybe it just feel weird because you are mostly used to a PC keyboard and its bigger "sensitivity"? Same happened to me with my netbook, I hated laptop PCs and hit the wrong keys half the time, but eventually got used to it.

    Same here for both statements.
