Hi, guys, don't know if this is the right thread for this, but I want to ask u for advice. I want to buy me a present for the holidays - some device that's similiar to iPAD, supports .pdf format, not that expensive, but functional. If u have something in mind pls write. 10x in advance

I don't know the exact price, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab seems to be a good alternative.

My first and highest recommendation would be to wait for the next version of the ipad and get that, but if not, the kindle 3 is pretty awesome, and google is telling me it reads pdfs :)
    Google speaks to me!!!

Regarding your question on the personal PDF file on your computer, yes, you'll still be able to do the searches on the Kindle.
You'll also be able to do highlighting and add notes.
I assume they mean OCR PDF though, the kinds where you can search them on your computer, not the ones that are made of picture files.
Those made of picture files, pass them through ABBEY FineReader first, so that it OCRs them, and they become searchable, then fly away little bird, the sky is the limit, so soar!
Again, the iPad 2.0 will probably be the next best thing since the snicker bars
