    Another option is PageWash. It's an ultra fast proxy that can block all adds from Google and you can customize your search settings after doing an initial search. I just found out about this and actually prefer it over Scroogle. As for any privacy concerns, this link will explain the terms of service. PageWash Privacy Policy

    I thought it'd be exclusively a Google proxy, but it looks like one of those countless PHP ones? For that matter, you can download a Glype script, install it on some free hoster, and be sure of everything that gets (or doesn't get) logged.

    I have actually done that and it works for searching Google, but it's not very nice for links unless you like right-click -> Copy, then URL-decoding the special characters... nonetheless, I might just have to do that - the other two private search engines are good, but the results just aren't as accurate as with the big G.
