Thread: Thread of Bizzare/Oddities

    Thread of Bizzare/Oddities

    OK imagine this...

You are sailing in your yacht through the ocean and then you see this...

Unbelievable right??? You rub your eyes yet its still the same....

    Now what it really is...

    Spoiler Surprise!!:
This is not a beach, it is volcanic stones floating on the water.

    --------------------------------------

    And then this...

    Awesome!

Can you imagine the thrill of being the first & only people to see a new island being created ... where there was nothing before?

Then, can you imagine thinking -- "Gee if I been a few minutes later, I might have gone up in that explosion of black volcanic ash when the eruption occurred"

    -- Now there's a scary thought!!!

the floating volcanic stones (pumice) images seem fake (looks like photoshopped beach images):
    - the bordering line on 2nd image is way too uniform
    - no floating patches
    - no wave-pumice interaction
    - water discoloration (the 2 shallow zones)
    - no plowing effect of the boat
    - too uniform rocks, no closeups
    - rafts of such size/thickness/uniformity magnitudes are a rarity, thus hard to prove with different sightings
    - the site deals with debunking hoaxes, but this one is not really convincing

Can you imagine the thrill of being the first & only people to see a new island being created ... where there was nothing before?

Then, can you imagine thinking -- "Gee if I been a few minutes later, I might have gone up in that explosion of black volcanic ash when the eruption occurred"
lol, as if islands are created within a few minutes
what happened there is called 'distance' - far away the island looks small, when you come closer it gets bigger, it didn't magically grow
also notice no black ash can be seen anywhere, but rather quite the opposite, white smoke loaded with steam, which may tell you only that the volcano beneath is active, but not that the island got created recently

this set of images was being distributed around the web in 2006 so the site decided to investigate whether it was a hoax or not - they concluded that it was not a hoax - i disagree with them and give a few arguments in that direction

    Slik,

Not a single word of my earlier post was meant for you...Sorry if it caused any misunderstandings...

I don't know if you read the manual that one gets when one becomes a metal-head but Rule # 8 says that metal-heads may have difference of opinion but they are never angry at each other...You'll always be cool with me no matter how philosophical you get

sure, i know that, what i did in the previous post was simply clarifying things a bit for anyone who may have got confused
also, no need to apologize, as far as i'm concerned we're cool

I am glad for you. I personally find your threads to be way off topic for the site and hardly enjoyable. But that is just me.

You see, in just 2 months you have posted as much as 80% of what I posted in almost 2 years. Just saying.

    1. Sea Monster or Spinning Water?
not convincing, as the fluid water/vapor texture cannot easily be mistaken for a solid object like a monster's (ie. big animal's) neck
    6. Once in a Blue Moon
the volcanic dust explanation is very thin - since the sky is blue/bluish during daytime, it has the same components during nighttime too, just darkened, so the moon always has a blue overtone of varying intensity, as for the phrase itself it means a rare event, whereas earlier it was closer to a non-occurring/impossible event, so basically it could mean anything from never, to rare to hidden in plain sight
    7. Seeing Triple
suspicious, if it was just reflection then there should be possible to see an almost arbitrary number of temporary multiple ghost images roughly at the same time
    10. Raining Fish and Frogs
inadequate, as there should be a greater diversity in species that fall to an area, also not only water based/related ones

actually, it only seems to be that way because the majority of the usual posts/users on the site aren't bothering to scratch the surface (which is roughly what i'm doing) as for some reason they seem contented with observing the superficial, i'm fairly sure that any expert in a particular field could make a thoroughly abominable dissection of our attempts at understanding things if desired (ie. we would be easily pwned)

Yes but sometimes its okay to look and appreciate the beauty of a sunset rather than worrying about the UV rays and global warming...
