Thread: Problem with Windows 7 and uTorrent

  1. #16
It has nothing to do with utorrent.
utorrent only download the files and put them where you want.

Thumbnails and any other partial views are controlled by windows and/or programs.
What if you copy/move the avi to other location?
What if you copy/move a "working" (that appears thumbnail) avi to the same location that the other doesn't work? what happens?

Happens I don't see thumbnails in avi files, now I seen is not uTorrent problem because is for all files.
Instead it work with image. I would know why I have this problem and maybe found a solution...

    Windows 7 32bit Ultimate,
Wmp is not installed but tried to install and don't work (I use VLC), in any case on my 2nd pc without wmp (also here VLC) work ok.

Can you take a printscreen of what it looks like? it's kinda hard to guess

    ----------

It came to my mind, do you have the codec?
Just because you can see the movie doesn't mean you have the codec in the system and that way windows explorer doesn't understand the file.

    Printscreen = ScreenShot ???
This is what I see with .avi files (I removed name of files...)

Select a file and click in the second button counting from the right below the search, the button at the left of the "?".

If it appears the same icon, it's the codec for sure, explorer doesn't understand the file.

Try this, set default avi action to open with wmp, so that the icon changes for wmp, see if that helps.

    Solution (thanks The248):
    1. Removed VLC, Installed WMP (also changed setting in the registry)
    2. Installed K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
    3. Done !
