SBi's Custom Emoticon generator

Yesterday, following some posts in the spam thread, I decided to call in the help of a friend and work on a cool little project.

SBi's Custom Emoticon generator was born! It's a simple php script that will generate an emoticon of your wish. The script will generate transparent png files.

Let me explain further, let's imagine the script would be located SBi's root folder in an emoticon map ( http://www.sb-innovation.de/emoticon/ ). Now how do you get the text you want? SUPER easy! Let's say you want to use the text "SB-Innovation". All you'd have to do is insert an image with this link: http://www.sb-innovation.de/emoticon/SB-Innovation.png.

The request will be routed to the php script, it will see you're asking for "SB-Innovation.png", cut off the ".png" part and it will create your image, without requiring any extra disk space! It will then look just like this:



Amazing, amiright? So I suggest we start a poll and show the mods and admins that we really want this!

I like it too, it's better than creating smileys by hand for every user we . Sadly, I don't have the necessary skill nor privileges to add it.

Ah, so that's what the red star-thing is all about.

I have. It's even been online for a second but it errored, most likely due to missing libraries (don't ask me I'm not an admin, I don't know this stuff). Nothing that can't be fixed anyway, as I've tested it on my friends linux host, so theoretically it should be able to work.

Sadly, the user I asked was excited about the idea yet sceptical about the userbase, meaning everyone wanting to implement their own little version, changes, etc, resulting in a big hassle for the admins...

How? It just generates an image. It doesn't access anything and everything happens server side. It's the same thing as many, many, many sites already do when they add that little watermark on their pictures.

About saebrtooth concern, I know about that. Maybe he's scared because someone/hacker can inject PHP code intentionally but have it ever happen before?

this would be only one thing we'd have to check before but there're some new major sbi things still to come so we just don't have time for something like that right now
