5200 FX with 128MB of VRAM here, do I win?

It was like a NASA computer... five years ago.

My 8800GT got overheat problem and it stops and causes the computer to crash if i didn't minimize a game every 15 minutes,
of course that happens when i put everything on Max graphics 8)
i was thinking of getting a cooler for it, but google says the card is permanently damaged ...

i tried every possible program to control the fan but without luck, every program says: there is no temperature sensor and when i try to change the fan using the driver level thing in rivatuner it doesn't allow me and everything is grayed out ,
link please? EDIT: found it ! :)

@topic owner: sorry for hijacking your thread

EDIT: my card is Inno3D 8800GT

Look at this thread: max graphics detail... firmware hacking... I wonder whether I should say I've actually considered underclocking my processor in the past so that it'd last longer.

Actually, the firmware hacking was just to make it last longer

I needed to mention at least two things to strengthen my point

    ---------- Post added at 19:06 ---------- Previous post was at 19:04 ----------

I considered doing that on my graphics card a few years go as well, actually. But it's some serious stuff and should anything go wrong, I'd end up with a brick+cooler. So that kind of deterred me. Works fine without flashing anything anyway...

Fact: If you buy a mid-end regularly, you'll be able to run as much as having a high-end for a decent amount of time and even save money
