    But why don't you buy a DVD ? Because you can easily encounter package incompatibilities depends on what you already had installed on your Ubuntu system.

    Which GNOME apps are you using?

    Me:

    Video:KMPlayer ,I want to avoid the popular VLC now

    Music:Banshee ,there's also some good ones like Amarok ,Listen and Rithmbox

    Web Browser:Firefox ,my favourite browser ever

    Messenger client:emesene

    Bitorrent client: Vuze Extreme Mod

    Photo editor: GIMP I think it's the best

    Any suggestions,opinions?

    actually none of these apps are related to gnome. anyhow i recommend to avoid wine as much as possible

    I think you mean Mplayer or Kaffeine.I never heard of kmplayer for linux.

    I always use the default ones,for every distro.

    Looks really noob-friendly " But the interface looks cool, can't believe it's gnome actually.
    I prefer Ubuntu stable versions just because i need my laptop for work and i like to do more with linux and i can do it with ubuntu.
