    Outpost firewall hogged CPU

Is there any Outpost firewall users out here?

I'm using the Outpost Pro version 6.7.2. Usually if I did not manual reboot my computer running Win 7 32bits (with 4 GB RAM but only 3GB RAM recognized) after 1 week or so, the Outpost's "acs.exe" process will hogged CPU up to 100% and if this continue for another few hours Win 7 will crash.

The only software used are 1 instance of utorrent and probably 30+ instances of RM.

Does anyone has the same problem as me?

    the latest of course,
    i use 4.0.141842.828
it doesn't use a lot memory, also on my laptop the fan noise appears from time to time,
but when i used to use Outpost the noise was continuous.

I have no problems with Outtpost, u should try upgrading to the latest stable 6.7.3 or u could even try the 7.0 beta.

When I had 23 RM instances running that ws the thing that kill my Windows stabilty, I found it even affected VEM's memory usuage, it bloated too even after I closed all RM's

As I speak my Outpost install cpu reading is at 0 running for 3 days. For me its definetly RM leaking badly
dont ban me just spank me

Try Outpost v4 if you don't feel like switching to another program. Its low resource usage is amazing.

Thank you gentlemen for all your suggestions!

For Comodo, is it the free one better or the Pro version? I seems to read somewhere that its free version is better but that was a long time ago and my memory is not reliable nowadays...

Outpost 7 beta certainly sounds interesting.

Too bad Outpost 4 doesn't support Win 7, and forcing compatibility may not be wise for things like firewall though...

    Didn't know Win7 isn't supported. Yes, it's a no-go then.

i have been using Comodo(free) for 2 years and it never let me down, not sure why i switched to (Nod32+Outpost) but later i returned to my better combo (avira+comodo)

also Outpost missed a few program entries that requested the connection to the internet, that was one of the strong reasons to get back to the 'master' comodo

sounds like i'm a comodo employee eh?

sorry i missed this post :\

outpost missed some of windows components, for example svchost.exe,
i know its a windows component but i don't like programs that act on their own.
like comodo it will ask you about EVERYTHING that needs a connection even Internal(Local) ones.

i think there others but i cannot remember them right now. sorry.
because when i format my pc and install Comodo i'm used to some notifications but they didn't appear when using outpost.

    hey man np

u may have just had auto learn on, any way not really important but just goodto know

I remember before autolearn outpost, although really good beause it was extremely configurable, wot I loved about it, was a pain to use cos I would spend ages just configuring the rules for 50-60 programs. Im sort of glad those days are over (except for just a small few now)

Yes exactly! all kinds of programs in Win7 uses svchost.exe as a cover to access the internet. and when I realized it, I did the most stupid thing on earth, that is, I deleted away the auto learn rules for svchost and you guys know what happen after that?

The data from utorrent, utorrent mod and RM all got hogged as a result with a dialogue box waiting for me to allow or otherwise. And guess what? It was middle of the night and of cos' I was sleeping then. So the traffic must have been routed through some other means finally and enormous data previously hold-up were now suddenly released and flooded the trackers with close to 1TB/s speed for each torrent. And guess what's next coming to me? A global ban.
