    Media Player Classic

I wish MPC had skins. I hate that grey status bar towards the bottom when you're playing with full zoom and want taskbar showing. It just stands out during a dark scene and can be annoying. I had to switch to KMPlayer cause of that.

Let's move this to a newer thread.

I've been using MPC-HC since shmizan first recommended it. Good piece of software.

yes i use MPC HC for HD movies. I read some guide is was necessary to install enable CoreAVC codec with it. but I see no difference watching movies with it enabled.

Ive got both mpc and vlc.

mpc is more stable with lower qual output
vlc is more unstable with better qual output

I too have CoreAVC and see no difference with it decoding or with ffdshow decooding AVC content.
it's stated to be the best AVC decoder available so I installed it.

I think that to be able to see a difference, you need an HD video card and HD monitor with HDMI cable connecting or something else that's really good

You disabled ffdshow's and MPC's H.264 filters so that CoreAVC can take precedence for decoding, right?

I did see a noticeable performance boost, CPU usage was lowered from 90-100% to 50-60% when playing AVC-encoded videos.

yeah I disabled all but CoreAVC and it also shows in MPC-HC as the filter used to decode.
I never noticed the cpu usage when playing movies but now when I check it uses 13-24% which is drastically lower than what you wrote

Go to MPC settings and make sure the MP4 is ticked in the formats tab and then go to winamp and make sure the opposite thing is done there.
