Thanks for the link. I just remembered it was through a thread in this forum that I learned about Grooveshark, and inside it I posted:

Well, at least it lasted a very long time.

Are there any good and free alternatives?

Check this out. It may be someone trying to capitalize on a well-known name, though.

Deezer is good imho and unlike Grooveshark, it is legal.

Had a quick look at it. Site features, including "flow", seem good. Did some searches and could find most of what I looked for (not everything, but that's fine because no legal service could ever rival Grooveshark, where everyone could upload anything that wasn't on their blacklist).

If there's a working way to rip tracks, it would make a good substitute.

GoEar.com is much better now. In the past (i.e. 3 years ago or more; that was the date of my last visit) it was just a search engine and a Flash audio player. It has since been completely redesigned with more features added. Songs are crowdsourced. It may become the next Grooveshark, except for the "get taken down forever" part, I hope.

that's a reboot. totally different site now and by default only searches streaming sites i.e. you get crappy transcodes. bitrate display doesn't seem to work either.
one of the best i know of right now is my-free-mp3.com

I know they tried to capitalize on Grooveshark's death, but they were good enough for me nonetheless, so I stuck with them.

I checked the one you mentioned and get a 502 error on every download But I guess it's a temporary problem.

Yes, they took me to the dereferrer, then I clicked the blue button and got a Cloudflare error saying the server is offline. I'll try again later.

    Indeed!

I tried it again and it worked. The site seems good, so I think I'll switch over based on what you told me.

this is one of these sites which mostly scan the russian version of facebook. the latter is probably the largest source for single tracks worldwide
the first site in that regard that made a major impact was mrtzcmp3. after it shut down the original mp3juices took over but that didn't last long. after that the first installment of my-free-mp3 surfaced, changed its domain a couple of times but still is fine for now.
another one of the same kind i know of is mp3freex.me.

In Soviet Russia, single tracks download you.
