Anon, what is that text based Rpg you are playing? I couldn't play it myself. The grinding must be killer
    Thanks

Ancient Domains of Mystery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You don't really have to grind to finish it. Only people looking for particular items or willing to make super-uber characters with HP, PP and speed over 10000 and all stats to 99 that can bookcast the Wish spell whenever they want will do that

But that doesn't interest me. I just want to win the game at least one after years of playing, and it's hard whatever way you choose.

Oh crap. He uses computers and plays RPGs. Let's stick a label on him.

    Nuff said.

I wish I had the patience as rpg's can be very rewarding. You actually have to work to achieve something and think strategically to get anywhere. I like to watch rpgs though. I watched my friend complete FF 7 and 8, awesome stuff. These days most games are about running around blowing stuff up and are not much of a challenge. Retro all the way for me.

Very true, specially in roguelikes. There are areas where brute force won't get you anywhere, and many mini-puzzles you have to use your wit to get through.

In ADOM it does help that the thing is closed source. Many veteran players keep on finding things they didn't know about. There are spellbooks of Wish? You can 'h'andle trees to make some dead leaves fall? Bleeding can reduce max HP? In years of playing I only realized that a few months ago.

FF7 was awesome. I played it to death as a kid in the PSX, got almost all characters to maximum level and reached the final dungeon until the game simply decided to stop working. In 2008 I found a public torrent for the PC version plus a bunch of mods and finally finished the game. It is easier and more linear in comparison, but also has its unique twists. Parts of the game many people won't pay attention with (mini-games and certain sidequests) conceal powerful secrets.
