Sounds like your resume.dat is being corrupted or overwritten. Do a chkdsk just in case. Also, are you running multiple instances from the same folder?

If you have lots of torrents loaded, it's possible that your PC shuts down while uTorrent is saving the torrent list.

Add a few torrents to reproduce the problem again, and when/if they vanish again, post the contents of uT's log (upon starting it again) here.

Excluding the directory where it stores its config data could also be a good idea.

Or Vuze? Although you didn't like its resource usage, if I remember correctly.

Make sure you close everything but uT if you're going to pull your PC's plug in purpose.

    power failure
like electricity problem - are you using an UPS ?

may also be the win indexing system messing with the files

My windows does a dick check when something like that happens.Just when i start it.
try it manually, win sometimes forgets to do it

Excluding the directory where it stores its config data could also be a good idea.
this reminds me it could also be the antivirus program --> exclude path from auto-search

If you have lots of torrents loaded, it's possible that your PC shuts down while uTorrent is saving the torrent list.
especially if low on RAM at that moment

There's a way to run two utorrent clients at time, Use it and place the new client away from the system partition, I used it and i didn't lose any torrents.
There's a prob too when the PC restarts or the electricity is off suddenly the size of the file seems smaller than it was shown, Someone knows why ?

    You mean resume.dat?

Remember a backup (resume.dat.old) is kept, for this kind of cases.

Close uTorrent via the Task Manager and see if the backup I mentioned above your post is available...

In the same folder as the uTorrent EXE, or %appdata%\uTorrent.
