I use Eset Nod on my machines. I have never tried Avira, however, when I used AVG in the past I had alot of problems with false positives and problems getting overlooked, It doesn't mean it's not better now or wouldn't have happened with other AVs at the time. Kasparsky is very good, but a little too fancy for me. Also, when I used to use getting new keys was an extra hassle. Eset has been very good to me for a pirated Antivirus. I would like to hear more about Avira though. Maybe I will try it out.

nod32 because it's good and lighter or you have Kaspresky it's little better than nod32.
i don't like avira because it's false positive.

Nod32 is indeed one of the best system security software in the world.Updates once a day and doesn't use more than 100 RAM

nod32 is very good and has high rate antivirus detection but is not the most comprehensive security suite.
kaspersky has good firewall and anti spam especially in the 8 and 9 release for the vulnerability apps detection.

Regarding notebook or desktop, I think there's no need for specific antivirus, i.e., try some and see which one suits you better. Take a look at the other thread too.

edit: very sorry, I didn't read netbook in your original post.

I had both and I didn't see any difference except kaspersky used more resources.

Assuming you need it to use as little resources as possible, my vote goes for NOD32 v2.7.
