i have choosen USA so i confirm its not with the country you select
    its with your IP,
so its better to find proxy for countries that the SMS activation is not enabled ...

Yeah, same here. No SMS bs for me. (At least no yet). It's so strange that they do it for your country and not mine, as we might look the same from their "eyes" perspective.

I don't know what to say about this. After reading this thread, I created 3 new email accounts without needing to activate using SMS or even being prompted. In am in the US and am using a residential IP address. The only problems I had were with the "Capcha".

Whoa weird I was just making a new Gmail account two days ago and I thought of this thread.

I remember a month ago when they implemented it, I thought I would never create a new Gmail account ever again. But when I created it, they didn't ask for a country. Nor did they ask for SMS activation.

I created the account through an invite from USA IP, not from registration.

    This is just strange.

Those of you going through the same thing can always use FastMail and its million free address endings.

They _need_ you to specify an "alternate" e-mail box for the free service, but Trash-Mail works wonders.

Now that you mention it, I did have that issue causing me to write the captchas like five times...
