I have tried it on scenehd.org and it works so far. Used speeds around 2-3mB/s (i think you can even go higher) and latest RM.

Sorry, I read back. I'd like to add, that the method worked for me so far (I've been doing this for 3 weeks) on BHD, SceneHD and BitHUmen with 3-7 mB/s speeds, Vuze extreme mod.

It should if their peerlist works like most trackers', but if in doubt, use slow speeds (<200kB/s) - stop before the update, of course. Have a look at this.

TranceRoute = you can use high speeds on new torrents

Elektronik = 1kB/s download, 1MB/s upload and stop beforethe update in the RM, or you can use the Extreme Mod's download reduction set to 99%.

In Elektronik you can also use high speeds without stopping before the update but be sure to grab a good torrent, ie look at the peerlist first.

Before some time on Elektronik I use Vuze with show us a seeder option on new torrents with speeds 300-200 also mR works there, I use mR for bonus points in there but always see the peerlist for average speed.

Sorry if this was answered before, but how can the 99% download reduction help? I never quite understood what it actually does. Is it to make the user stay as leecher forever?

No, it makes only 1% of your download be reported to the tracker, i.e. if I download 1000 MB, only 10 MB will be reported. (Yes, this is risky on sites with permanent snatchlists such as Waffles)
