I will help out making it even easier with the links

First, you can go test your connection here so that we have a baseline

    Speakeasy - Speed Test

And here is the link to the OpenOffice torrent

    distribution: OpenOffice.org P2P Downloads

If you do not like it much, here is the link to ubuntu's torrent

    Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu

Please help us out. You know that we improve these clients, this site, and this community with the help you provide, and we will be very appreciative :thumb:

Do you want me to rename this thread and/or add a link to post #46 in the first one?

btw in all my posts i was referring to public, not private tracker torrents

don't worry, every mod released here is thoroughly tested first by the sb-i team and then by the members

Yes, please. You can use your journalistic skills and come up with a nice journalistic title like "Watch Goerge W Bush dance naked in a nudist beach" or "Obama has an affair with 18 years old supermodel" or "Sarkozy caught cheating on his wife with the German first-llady-with video proof". Ya know.

A well-leeched public torrent... could be hard to find a legal one

This is now beyond BitThief. We are trying to answer the question that puzzles every Bittorent user: Which client is the fastest?

Those well seeded torrents will provide us with the least variables possible. A weak swarm will not provide comparable results (The swarm could berelying on 1 big seeder that could leave just before we move on to testing the second client etc). We are looking to find, under optimum conditions, which client is the fastest so then we will know whether BitThief is actually working as the fastest downloader as they claim.

It seems to be fast. This test will let us know whether this claim is true and put an end to the speculation (Like people arguing whether Azureus is faster than uTorrent, or the reverse etc).

We are making history And as I said this will draw a lot of google traffic

Deluge should enter the equation too, just in case it's really faster than uTorrent like FSF's article said.

well, for testing purposes i suppose anything goes
and the results don't have to reveal the torrents it was tested on

I suppose you're right. The amount of seeders and leechers should do.

this is very difficult to claim, especially in an uncontrolled environment where things change quickly

which client is the fastest so then we will know whether BitThief is actually working as the fastest downloader as they claim.
i'm personally more interested in whether this client allows maxing out the connection when downloading from public trackers (big swarms), but it would be an interesting thing to compare the clients

I hope I did it well
nobody had any doubts about it

There might be others here that are worth testing out.

but the speed is impressive compared to azureus/utorrent.

old ubuntu version, 4seeder/7leecher (realy quick test
    azureus ~70kb/s
    utorrent ~80kb/s
    bitthief ~150kb/s

suppose that this ever became a modded client. This forum would still need the author's permission since that is the current status, yes??

How do you think that the author's would respond??

If not favorably, would it be ethical to mod this client or perhaps mod this client in a differnt way with a different name, of course and with different scripting and with everything else different of it.

I mean, since this board has the permissions of client mod's authors first before they are hosted here, and the authors deny permission, .....then what??
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

Has permission of utorrent coder been obtained? Mods of this program exist here. Perhaps it is not prerequisite.
