    Global military spending surges

This is kind of surprising to me after having read the short article.

Global military spending surged to a record $1,464bn last year, with the US maintaining its position as the world's leading arms spender, a report by a Swedish monitoring group has said.
I think that's in trillions. Someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong, but I:m, pretty sure that it is.

China became the world's second biggest military buyer, increasing its spending by 10 per cent to an estimated $84.9 bn last year, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri) said on Monday.

Now that doesn't surprise me at all.

    Here's the link:

    It's a short read.

    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

considering kazuya's first chart, that would be correct

even though such costs aren't surprising for the usa since they play the role of a global sheriff, many conflicts are caused by their interventions in a more or less obvious manner, one thing is pretty sure - if there is a military conflict you can expect the usa to be around or involved

judging from these numbers looks like their military industry is flourishing - no crisis there, now if suddenly there were no wars think about what would happen if no one was there to buy their products - a collapse - thats why there are many voices out there accusing the usa for being involved or even starting conflicts around the world

That I do have to agree with, Slikrapid re: starting conflicts. I do believe that. There may not be any proof, though one can have his/her opinions of such, of course.

I can;'t believe that Europeans consider that ice cream is one of the 'global priorities' of,....what...11 billion bucks.

    C'mon...yu guys are crazy, yes??

Look, kazuay. I'm not normal....well, most times I am.

    Other times I'm just 'silly'.

Its got something to do with my pesonality.

    dude, i sense insecurity

no one is purely normal or purely (100%) crazy, like said before its all 'shades of gray' - normal are those considered to be among the expected behavior or some other pattern, now who can decide what kind of deviation from that expected way is still within the 'normal' range...right: no one should have this power - so its best just to be tolerant to others and treat their outbursts or behavior not too harsh or with rejection - we should respect our differences

    ...different is good
...if everyone was the same, how boring would that be

as for these numbers, or as they call it priorities, they are lacking some info on how the research was done and in what sectors, on what number of participants and so on
it seems they represent costs, so to call them priorities would be wrong (drugs a priority? )
some numbers are added (europe & usa) so they are higher than they should be
the fact that these numbers are higher than education and so on is logical since they are (mostly) considered luxury items and therefore are expected to cost more (only that ice cream amount is a bit odd, are there many super costly ice cream sorts?)
