ThreatFire 4.5.0.14 - Prevent zero day malware infections

ThreatFire is an anti malware product developed by PC-Tools, the same folks behind the excellent registry optimizer 'Registry Mechanic'. What's interesting about ThreatFire is that it focuses largely on the prevention of new, undiscovered, zero day malware infections. Unlike traditional Anti Virus software ThreatFire does not use a 'virus signature database' based approach towards the elimination of security threats. Instead, it uses behavioral monitoring that can detect previously unknown viruses and other pests without the need for updated definition files.

Kaspersky is also able to do this, its callled ActiveProtection. Works quite fine.

if i'm not mistaken its called heuristics and every major antivirus program uses it - the problem is it consumes much resources so when combined with a library-check its very slow

library-check only - finds only known viruses
library-check & heuristics - finds 'all' but its slow
heuristics only - 'finds' only new viruses (unless its optimized in such way that it can find any already known virus)

Yes, you're right with that. This program seems to rely solely on heuristics. This it interesting, at the very least, but as you said, it could be slow and also cause some false positives.
