Well thats why probably They have opened signups once Again....And i got In once Again...but Still many Times when i Try to Login, it says Server load is too High.....

we're nasty cuz we leach 'n cheat like there's no tommorrow. Well, maybe some do.

and their a nasty crowd too b/c they are always begging for some coin.
And we don't really no where it's really being spent.
I"m sure that most sites do spend their donations appropriately.

Some sites, for example ScT, do post their server bills (I still don't agree with being totally outmatched by seedboxes and having to pay for upload GBs). Others, like Elektronik, I think, don't even have an option to donate.

If the trackers themselve continue to be up, it means that at least some of the donation money goes to paying the bills.

My personal point of view is that their tracker = their rules, even if this means being constantly nagged to donate, or restricted functions (i.e. no invites) until you do so. However, there are some exceptions. Continuing the ScT example, all those boxes means they don't "need" the upload speeds of people like you and me, which mostly doesn't even have three digits.

But whatever justification we give it, cheating is against tracker rules and tracker staff are in they full right to ban us. Sometimes what's fair is not legal, and what's legal is not fair, right?

@SealLion: yes mate, I share some of your thoughts, but I don't mind being nasty on them, because they are wrong in the first place (in the eyes of the law I mean) for facilitating copyrighted material to be distributed without due participation of the original holders.

Yes, we do and I really don't know what to say on my defense. We want to listen to music, watch new movies, play games, etc, but it's not always we have enough money for that right? Whenever I can I spend money on them. Going to cinemas, buying some dvds (promotional and budget ones ) and so on. I think it's all a question of ethics and as we are mature, we should know what's right and wrong.

I'll give you that one. And big players like Microsoft, for example, need my money as much as ScT needs my real upload.

Either way, piracy has come to stay. Even if this is often said just as an excuse to vaguely justify downloading tons of warez, the industry needs to adapt to this change rather than trying to counter it, IMO.

Yup. They can definitly use the change needed to adapt to piracy.

Maybe lower their software's prices for one thing.
Maybe that'll give some users the incentive to pay for some of these things.

I mean, would you pay 60 bucks to download and pay for some AV???

I don't exactly know...I think about 100 bucks or so, yes??

And some things are already changing. See music bands for example, nowadays I'm sure they profit more from live shows and gigs, than selling CDs. So in this case it was a good thing IMO, i.e. the band is now more in contact with who really matters to them: their fans.

Yup. That's right. And another thing which you hinted at alpachino is the fact that lots of bands, like the newer ones for example, are using BT to help spread thier songs.

And that, I don't believe is piracy.

That's the conclusion reached, by the artists, that BT (and piracy), is here to stay.

They are obvioulsly making use of technology to thier greatest advantage.

Never mind that not every user is going to rush out and buy thier CDs. But I think you understand what I'm saying.

Basically, realizing that BT is a technology that can be utilized by the artists.

Which university in England was it that is now using BT as a technology to aid thier students in downloading lecture material??

Cant' remember.....but that's another example.
