I am new to RevTT (and don't have much at stake) but I have cheated with speeds
of 768KiBps recently on a very active torrent (Mass Effect 2). So...

Extreme Mod speed+ mode with speeds 32-512kBps. So far so good!
Mass Effect 2 is a good one to cheat on :D

I do it all the time with Extreme Mod.

Just select the option to stop spoofing when
the peers are below 5 and spoof at average swarm speed.

Putty works fine here on Win 7 x64
