I ran del /f *.* in the command prompt, but forgot to change the directory beforehand. By the time I noticed it was taking too long and pressed Ctrl+C to cancel, almost everything was gone.
However, I had a backup and it took no more than ten minutes to restore it and undo this drama. Nothing was lost.
Bottom line, always have backups :smilie4:
Yeah backups are a pain in the ass....but if you ever do need them you praise the lord that you made them. I wish i just had some pictures of my old profiles...would make them invites a lot easier.

I remember when I accidentally deleted my download folder. Almost gave me a heart attack.
These days you have to backup all devices, not just computers. Smartphones, tablets, ebook-readers, smart watches, routers and switches and any other such devices. And that takes a TON of space. The more you have, and the more you know about anything, the more money you have to spend.
I don't have enough hard drives to make copies of all my files. :frown:
I'm actually thinking about buying 4TB external HDD just for my backups!!!
yea, its good to have backups, but even backup hard drives fail and nothing is reliable these days even the cloud storages. but using the command prompt has its disadvantages and advantages I guess. lolz
that is why I always use the good old shift+delete. lolz
Once I accidentally deleted a folder on an encrypted partition and none of the free recover programs would work.
the most simple and fast recovery program I use only these days are recuva. but yes not all files are recoverable, especially if they have been over written.Quote:
