How do you manage your tracker accounts?

We've seen threads about ratio statistics, highest buffer and now I'm proposing a more technical thread:

Tracker Management

1. How do you keep track of your trackers? If yes, specify where do you store them.
2. Do you also keep track of your banned accounts?
3. How much information do you keep (last ip / mac used / browser used etc.)

If it's something custom (example: a database of some sort) please make a screen shot.

Me:
1. Yes. Access database.
2. Yes.
3. User/Email/Profile Link/Passkey/MAC/Browser/Country

I built this myself last year. It generates username, password, email automatically and returns the current mac address and country.
It's not intended for collection but for knowing which emails, browsers, country and mac address were last used.

Hope this will receive some replies and not be a one-man post.

Impressive! I'm to lazy for such thing. I remember my passwords and usernames, if in case I forget I just reset it :smile:

I do the same, especially notes on how i got in (useful for gauging how valuable an account is, based on how many other accounts are risked when 1 gets banned). However, i store the database inside my Dropbox, which gets synced to all my devices. I've also started to upload it to Google Drive every few days to keep another backup.

Made my own access database.
Info: site url, site user, site pwd, email, email pwd

MySQL DB with PHP frontend.

I store everything needed for authentication, plus some additional details.
Of the banned ones, I only store the "tricky" ones, so I won't use the same email again anywhere.

Password database aren't something I'd upload to "the cloud" - you never know when something might happen and- OK, I'm making our tracker manager feature look bad now :wtongue:

I also try not to log in outside my home. If I ever have a problem, the account will have a tidy, non-fickle IP history and that's nice.

You don't log that information to simply log in from now and then. It is used to tell what emails/mac/location were used at that tracker. How do you know what emails were associated with your banned accounts if you don't do this?

LE. does anyone know of good name generator from games (like warcraft characters)? I need it as an executable if it exists.

I use a separate e-mail address for each account. When I'm banned, I delete the mailbox as well. MAC, never changed them; location, it's always at home as I pointed out above.

I also use Keepass to keep my password and information about sites I visit. About emails, if I will have one account I register the email I use, else I create a new one temporarily and delete him after registration :) And I don't keep track of banned accounts.

That must be an impressive list. One email for each tracker.
I have them randomly distributed in my gmail accounts but I never use the same email again (on the same site).

But isn't what.cd banning MAC addresses if caught cheating (I learned this from a 2011 chat with them on their IRC)? Suppose this happens and you don't know.

I'm using keepass portable for my usb stick. Haven't been able to create an xml with the custom fields I want to insert.
Made a querry to exaport to xml but I have to use keepass's default column names.

I personally think the whole MAC address thing is a myth. I've had many dupes on that place in the past using the same MAC, and nothing ever happened, having taken the other appropriate measures. Now I'm no longer a member on What.cd and I don't wish to be ever again, nor do I cheat anywhere else, so it doesn't really matter to me.

1. a simple .txt file (with occasional backups)
2. no
3. usually just the basics (user, pass, email)

Exactly.
It's not possible to get someone's MAC from an external network.

It's encrypted, it's useless without my 26 character password (which is random, has upper case, lowercase, numbers and special characters, i can remember this because it used to be my wifi password and i inputted it so many times that i'm stuck with it in my head).

Yeah but the FBI has those passwords for breakfast. :O

How secure is my password says:

It would take a desktop PC
About 3 septillion years

I didn't input my real password though, i shifted any numbers and characters up by 2 and down by 2 after half the password (to be safe). I don't think the FBI would crack that any time soon, they'd get the password from me via torture before they crack that. If you want to be extra safe, make a truecrypt volume (1mb should be enough), put the encrypted database into that and sync.

Have you read the book Digital Fortress? Even though it's by Dan Brown you might find it interesting.

i use a simple text file (url, username, password) located on my desktop. no need to protect it...

IF the FBI is after my accounts I'm going to go rogue and hunt all their organization down.

I use Lastpass Manager as i have thousands of accounts.I just have to remember one password only.
I highly recommend this extension

I use simple windows notepad :)

What if you need to extract the accounts?
Or save the settings if you are doing a format? Can you be 100% certain that everything you backup will be later recognized by a new version of lastpass?

Carrying data on usb sticks is also a risky job. Never know when something is going to go wrong.

I can't just give it to you because everything can be recovered easily from it. Being a database, all you need to do is write a custom script to undelete a filed of table and you have access to all the data that existed.
And we wouldn't want that, would we?
I'd have to recreate a new database for this.

I use 1password. its now for mac and PC windows(and mobiles ...) and if exported into dropbox you can access it directly from any device/computer. it syncs through dropbox to every device :)

I only have access to 4 private trackers and i have bookmarked them and remember there passwords.

I used to be something back in the day... I lost everything. Wish I could return 2012, I was so hopeful of the future.

The good thing is that database idea I had 10 years ago is still relevant today. Not just for trackers - for any type of accounts. KeePass is good but only for passwords. It lacks proper fields for phone, email, alias/username, recovery code, procedures, etc. You can add them as custom fields but it's so tedious to mange them. And there is a performance problem with KeePass.. when going over a certain number of entries, it starts to be sluggish on saves/loads. This is also true for references, stay away from them - performance wise it is much better to just duplicate an entry rather than add a reference to it.

Anyway, I'm working on the new database for all accounts and not just trackers. And a CRUD to go with it.

//LE: I still remember the name I used for the tracker management: Directorate of Demand, short form: DD. It used have a fleet of 30 gmail addresses, with another 10 as throwaway. One main account to dump all mail to. Had random name generators, random password generators, the database used to give a random mail based on previous account usage fully balanced so that each mail account would have an equal number of accounts attached to it. Everything written by me. Even had randomikers for options such as, avatar, signature - set or not, and details to set.
On some trackers I was named a piller of their community. I used to chat with staff people while I was cheating. And it was just myself and one other man, a friend whom a lost all contact a few years back. We were pumping next to 1TB a day to multiple trackers.
It was clockwork. A well oiled machine...

Well, apparently the setup I'd already been using for 4 years on 2012 still holds up today. For non-tracker accounts, however, I keep a simple text file. It's easier and faster since there aren't any notes to store and updates are rare.

I use a KeePass database.

It's funny how much thoughts some of you put into this.

I just use browser bookmarks (grouped by folders) for my current trackers and a password-manager (Bitwarden) to store the credentials. That's basically it.

I also don't track banned trackers, because there are just some and the majority doesn't even exist anymore.

It's hard to get a password generator right. I hope you have the cryptographic knowledge to do this right.

I found that access database I created in 2012. Seems to be everything from passwords, access codes, mail, organization, even the sigil used for the name is still there. I'll post some screenshots.
I actually found in a backup but a very strage one. It would appear I made the sd card holding the backups unreadable unless used in a certain way. I was not able to read that thing for years, thought it was broken. Good thing I did not threw it out.

The funny thing is much of this has been recreated even though I had no intention if retaking my old habits. And believe it or not, it's much better and more fruitful than it ever was before. I still love the name, and I think I'll use it for the re-creation of the group.

I use Bookmarks and BitWarden for passwords, with KeePass & Websites in a csv file as a backup.

Bookmarks in the internet browser and Bitwarden for storing usernames and passwords.

I finally figured out why it fell. Having massive amounts of data, with no way of managing, plus tying yourself to proprietary programs that are dependent on specific operating systems is the recipe failure. In programming there is what is called spaghetti code. So you add code on top of another code, and that is above another piece and so on. Over time - if not properly managed - this huge blob becomes so hard to read that you have two options: either redo the whole thing from scratch, or hire more people. So it's a time or money sort-of-thing.

And instead of figuring out what to do, everything got scrapped. Hundreds of tracker accounts, and dozens of email accounts, and a few other helper accounts went into the trash. It would've been trash anyway since trackers die of mismanagement but at least those emails would've survived.
