well, a good question :deutschland: I'll hpoe that the german team win the World-Cup,
but the true is the german leader/Trainer isn't good, he is to much arrogant and he stand the striker only his opinion not of the true strongest form, that's the reason. I think the german team finaly to 1/4 final...
Winner 2010 is Brasil or Italy, in my opinion ^^
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you unterstand this post ;-)

I'm not a soccer fan...but I can't wait until the Super Bowl!!! :klatsch_3:
Group D and G appear to be the groups of death. Spain, Italy and England have dream fixtures, but this is the World Cup there are no easy matches.
Hopefully we see many potential upsets and action all around.
ATLien; why bother posting then.

Although I really hate the English team, I think this is the best team they've came up with. So they might be part of the final
and the opposing team hopefully will be Brazil.
Why nobody talk about Argentina in final?. Because of "Hand of God" coaching style. :frown:
Most of the best players in Europe (mostly Spain) are from Argentina, and they all are in the National Team.
Maradona is the coach, but he is a disaster ( I guess that doing coke for 30 years and living like a horny 15 year old does get your brain wasted after all)
Anyway Argentina has a LOT of chances of winning, though I hope not, because otherwise Maradona could fairly end up as our president.
Go go Netherlands. The guys always have a bad luck on a big championships and they're such a great team....
Everybody talks about Argentina as a best team but i think not. They are comparing Messi with Maradona.Maradona lead Argentina alone to world cup gold and Messi will never do this even with way better team players now in team as then.i think they will not even pass group...
Maradona as a coach say "Don't laugh for me Argentina" :rolleyes2:
Its supposed to be Argentina vs Spain in Final if not because of this coach, pal.
So this time maybe Brazil vs Spain will be interesting. Or South Africa?.
Hey guys I just wanna share with you this great Nike's TV Commercial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idLG6...eature=related
South Korea 2–0 Greece
Goal.comQuote:
South Korea made a positive start to their World Cup campaign, defeating a poor Greece side 2-0 in their opening Group B encounter.
Lee Jung-Soo pounced on some slack marking to knock the Asians ahead early in the first half, before a strike from Park Ji-Sung, who was the benefactor of a dire mistake from Loukas Vyntra early in the second half, made the game safe.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't watch the game but I think the score was unexpected.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Argentina 1-0 Nigeria
Goal.comQuote:
Argentina claimed a 1-0 win over Nigeria in World Cup Group B, but they could have had a lot more than Gabriel Heinze's sixth minute header to show for their superior creativity.
Heinze turned in a Juan Sebatian Veron corner to give his side a victory which could easily have been more convincing as the Albicelestes carved out a number of opportunities agaist a resilient Super Eagles outfit.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Argentina has a very a strong attack, they could have scored more goals. The defend was bad though, a stronger team than Nigeria would have definitely scored.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
England vs USA 1-1
Robbed a win :D
Goal.comQuote:
England's opening World Cup group C encounter against the USA finished 1-1 after a cut and thrust encounter inside the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Steven Gerrard opened the scoring after less than five minutes with a neat finish but a goalkeeping howler from Robert Green ensured the United States took a point away from the tie.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a game, what a blunder from England goal keeper. There was a debate about the goal keeper before the start of the tournament and they decided to take Green instead of James. It is definitely the wrong decision. The USA played very well, good defense and great counter attacking team (very fast strikers).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where is the results of Mexico vs South Africa, caballero. Nice idea with added some own commentary. But you need to do it every time for about 64 matches. :eek3:
England has always got problem with lack of good keeper from 1998 iirc. Meanwhile Spain got 3 full fledged keeper in their hands.
What is gone is gone
64 matches, no problem at all.
the english team always think that the problem is with their team, the real problem is with press. With such a strong criticism in the media, it's hard to do anything really.
Gah, media. They're sucked just whine everywhere. Many of their league was doomed because of their extensive fake coverage.
The third day of the world cup, 13/06. I think the performance is starting to increase gradually.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Algeria Vs Slovenia 0-1
Slovenia Go Top
Quote:
Slovenia defeated Algeria 1-0 in the World Cup 2010 to jump to the pinnacle of Group C with a crucial three points to their name after their first match. The North Africans were reduced to ten men in the second-half and were quickly made to regret it...........................
The Europeans found the advantage through Koren. Their captain's shot from outside the area curled into the bottom corner, but it was a soft goal conceded by Chaouchi, who let the ball squeeze just inside the post.
Goal.com
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Algeria had more chances than Slovenia, however, football doesn't care about chances or performance; only the score. As mentioned in the quote, the red card affected the team a lot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ghana Vs Serbia 1-0
Goal.comQuote:
The opening game of World Cup Group D was dramatically won by Ghana, who scored a late penalty to punish a Serbia side whose lack of discipline was ultimately decisive.
Though the first half failed to produce any goals, there were chances at either end. Despite early intent from Serbia, it was the Black Stars who looked the more likely team to open the scoring. After the interval, the pattern of the game remained the same until Aleksandar Lukovic was dismissed for a second booking, inviting Ghana to really go for the jugular late on. And the Africans aimed the decisive blow from the penalty spot in the closing stages of the game when Asamoah Gyan thumped high into the net.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This player Gyan has a really good future of he keeps playing like this, excellent playing. Although the match was won by a penalty, but I think they deserve it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Germany Vs Australia 4-0
Match of the day really, spectacular performance by the German team. Congratulations to all Germans in this forum ;)
Although Leow was criticized before the world cup and many problems arose in the team, he had shown today that he is a great coach. The choice of players he had made was perfect. The goals were all 'Brazilian Style' :P The Brazilian born player (Cacau) and the Turkish (Ozil) played the best I think. Ozil was chosen the man of the match. If Germany keep playing like this, they will definitely be in the semi-final.
We already have a thread about it

first your thread almost dies and now it got hijacked by competition, tough luck, eh? ;)

i'll probably just watch the final & maybe 1 or 2 semi-final matches...used to watch more earlier but interests shift you know

Fourth Day 15/06
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Netherlands vs Denmark 2-0
Quote:
Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk gave Rafael van der Vaart the nod to prove his worth at the left wing and started in the 4-2-3-1 formation we are all used to from the Dutch.
For Denmark, national coach Morten Olsen awarded striker Nicklas Bendtner a starting berth despite his alleged injury problems. Additionally, Simon Poulsen and Thomas Enevoldsen were somewhat surprisingly included in Denmark's starting XI.
Goal.comQuote:
Oranje started the second half brilliantly and opened the score only one minute after the interval. Van Persie went after a long ball down the left wing and collected the pass before sending in a cross to the far post. Denmark defender Simon Poulsen tried to head the ball clear, but his attempt bounced off the back of Daniel Agger past the helpless Denmark goalie to make it 1-0 for the Dutch.............................
Netherlands decided the match five minutes before the final whistle. Sneijder sent Elia clean through on goal with a brilliant through pass. The Hamburg star's shot bounced back off the upright, but Kuyt was alert to tap the rebound home from close range to make it 2-0.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The match was equally divided until the own goal in the second half, this goal gave the match to Netherlands. The funny thing is that the defender smiled widely after scoring the own goal, don't know how it is explained psychologically :D.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japan vs Cameroon 1-0
Goal.comQuote:
Japan recorded their first ever World Cup win away from home soil on Monday, picking up a 1-0 victory over Cameroon.
The first half was a miserable affair, yet it somehow produced a goal from Keisuke Honda. Stephane Mbia came closes for the Indomitable Lions in the closing stages of the match, striking a wonderful shot against the face of the Japanese bar.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unexpected really, Cameron played so badly. I think it is a coach mistake, playing a striker (Etoo) on the right and killing all his talents. Records other than Japan wining there first game outside their country; first time that Cameroon lose their opening game in any world cup.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Italy vs Paraguay 1-1
Goal.comQuote:
Daniele De Rossi saved world champions Italy from defeat to Paraguay in their Group F opener in Cape Town after Antolin Alcaraz's 38th minute header had put the South Americans ahead.
The Azzurri dominated possession in the first half, but there had barely been any chances for either side until Alcaraz rose highest from a free kick to send Paraguay into a shock lead.
Italy were a changed team after the introduction of substitute Mauro Camoranesi, and equalised on 63 minutes through Daniele De Rossi.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paraguay showed Italy that they anyone can play with the 'Italian defence style'. They played for a draw from the start, the amazing free kick gave them the unexpected goal. Great that they scored and survived for more than 50 minutes against the Italians.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fifth day 15/06
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Zealand vs Slovakia 1-1
Goal.comQuote:
New Zealand claimed their first ever World Cup finals point with a dramatic equaliser in stoppage time from defender Winston Reid with just seconds remaining on the clock.
Slovakia had thought they had done just enough to win after Robert Vittek had given them the lead with an excellent back post header from a superb Vladimir Weiss cross from the right. In a match in which the Kiwis had more than held their own, they will feel they richly deserved their point as every member of the side played above themselves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The quote summarize it all, New Zealand's first ever win, everyone expected Slovakia to win. Bad choice to try and protect a one goal lead!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ivory Coast vs Portugal 0-0
Goal.comQuote:
Portugal and Cote d'Ivoire played out a dull as ditchwater scoreless draw in their World Cup Group G encounter.
If any further evidence was needed this was clear proof that despite a plethora of world class talent, the sight of two well drilled and organised sides led by pragmatic coaches does not provide for the kind of spectacle the South Africans had been expecting since being awarded the tournament. The distinct lack of action on the pitch was in sharp contrast to the intense anticipation that had surrounded the game off it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apart from a couple of chances, the match was so boring.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brazil vs North Korea 2-1
Goal.comQuote:
Brazil’s quest for yet another World Cup crown began in somewhat uncertain style, though they still managed to battle to a 2-1 victory over North Korea.
The first period was dominated by the Selecao, but the Asians were not totally impotent on the break. Nevertheless, at half-time there was no score. Maicon opened the scoring from an outrageously acute angle before Elano added a lovely second. Ji Yun-Nam scored a late consolation to worry Brazil, though ultimately it was not enough to plunder a hugely unlikely point.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Big performance from NK, they blocked all attacks in the first half but they're playing against Selecao and it is hard to survive the whole match.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so the best pro's Brazil played against some man could say amateurs N.Korea and win only with 2:1 :rolleyes2: Brazil played nice soccer till 1998,now some spoiled kids play
weren't brazilian players always kinda spoiled/unrestrained, more inclined to play a breezy/exciting version of football as opposed to the european (mainstream) football machinery (even though the latter is also an achievement in itself)
in addition, a sport can't go much higher than its 'golden era'...unless in this example it gets reinvented with something like, say, shaolin soccer
but now they play like most European players, just fouls,rush...no more nice game play and tricks, and none special player.
lolQuote:
shaolin soccer
Yes, it wasn't their best performance but I think it is hard to start the tournament with a spectacular game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honduras vs Chile 0-1
Goal.comQuote:
Chile played some of the finest football of the tournament so far to open their World Cup with a convincing 1-0 win against plucky outsiders Honduras.
Playing with an enterprising spirit, the South Americans imposed themselves on the game from the beginning, as is the style of their Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mostsome people don't even know where Honduras is, not unexpected. The game showed that Chile will be able to compete with Spain and Switzerland for the two places.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spain vs Switzerland 0-1
Goal.comQuote:
Switzerland caused one of the great World Cup shocks in Durban, defeating European champions and competition favourites Spain 1-0.
It was a grim defensive performance by the Swiss, who were magnificent around their own goal throughout and hit their opponents with a classic sucker-punch through Gelson Fernandes in the second half. La Furia Roja were not without a threat, but Xabi Alonso’s thumping shot off the bar was as close as they got.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, the top favourites have lost. Totally unexpected, Switzerland with a few attacks scored the goal while Spain couldn't get passed the great defence of Switzerland. Spain still has a chance, a big chance because they weren't that bad today.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
South Africa vs Uruguay 0-3
Goal.comQuote:
On National Youth Day in South Africa, it was an experienced old-head in Diego Forlan whose virtuoso display left South Africa clinging onto their World Cup hopes by the skin of their teeth.
A brace from the Atletico Madrid man and a late Alvaro Pereira goal gave the Uruguayans a much deserved victory over the lacklustre Bafana.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uruguay unlike France proved they can score goals!, a win or a draw will lead them to the next stage.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now i understand...
