Google is your friend
your uTorrent has no of it? O_oQuote:
Cisco® Smart Call Home is an award-winning, embedded support feature available on a broad range of Cisco products. Smart Call Home enabled devices continuously perform proactive diagnostics on their own components to provide real-time alerts and remediation advice when an issue is detected.
Wrong result.
found a "Utorrent secure mod" i see that "call homes" are just paranoid removing any http and ip addresses from utorrent executable isn't it?
"multicast ip" - you can disable it if you turn off "ocal peer discovery" in options without any modding, that's why it is present, for local peer discovery
"Update Server" - wtf you don't want updates so you mod it? why not turn off also?
anything else?
Because if you're installing it for the first time, uTorrent sends a lot of data to the update server before you can toggle that off.
There's a bunch of references to "stats" (I have removed that as well) as well as the problem reporting backlink (which you can also disable via advanced settings).Quote:
anything else?
really what "stats" ? is there anything that really should have been removed - removed? just wondering
Unpack the official executable, load it in a hex editor and see by yourself...
see lots of bytes? yes we find ip and http addresses there, but if you think about its purpuse which you will find in options ( like local peer discovery or reporting errors in utorrent ) you'd consider it safe and needed, if utorrent had any spyware or backdors wouldn't it be a big news? or if you did find something like that - please tell us with some proof
Data sent home by µtorrent - Programming stuff
Have fun.

I don't have any proof of that stuff gets sent to other addresses, but it sure doesn't hurt to strip those from the EXE considering functionality isn't affected.
see you can disable all that data + if update is off - no data at all will be sent.Quote:
Oh yeah, there is a setting in the preferences dialog (Send detailed info when checking for updates) where you can disable all of this data sending. However, it's enabled by default so your data is sent out at least once when you first start the program.
i see it is On by default but i still think it's not worth modding, thx for explanation anyway)
i have changed net.calc_overhead to false (with a * next to it???) and unticked enable bandwith management...i get 100kb/s on modded utorrent and 1.2mbs on regular...?
