Am Dienstag erst reicht ein 19-jähriger Physik-Student aus Tübingen eine Online-Petition ein. Nach nur zwei Tagen ist die Hälfte der nötigen 50.000 Stimmen zusammen. Nach nur vier Tagen, am Freitag, haben bereits mehr als 56.000 unterzeichnet. Das Quorum ist somit lange vor Ablauf der Frist am 8. Juni erreicht.
Die vom Deutschen Bundestag unter dem Titel "Verpflichtung der Internetanbieter zur Netzneutralität" geführte Petition mit der Nummer 41906 hat ungeahnten Zuspruch in Rekordzeit bekommen. Blogger und Journalist Richard Gutjahr berichtet auf seinem Blog gar, dass es bisher nur einer Petition gelang, das Quorum schneller zu erreichen. Seitdem die Telekom angekündigt hat, mit einem ab 2016 geplanten Zusatzangebot namens "Entertain" ein "Zwei-Klassen-Internet" einzuführen, ist der Spott im Netz groß. Die Telekom sieht vor, die Internetverbindung ihrer Kunden künftig nach dem Verbrauch einer bestimmten Datenmenge zu drosseln. Wer mehr Datenvolumen haben möchte, braucht dann das kostenpflichtige Zusatzangebot. Seit Wochen ärgern sich auf Twitter die User über die Pläne unter der Verwendung des Hashtags "Drosselkom". Die Petition fordert nun ein Gesetz, das Netzanbieter zur gleichberechtigten Weiterleitung aller Datenpakete im Internet verpflichten soll. In der Begründung der Petition heißt es: "Die Netzneutralität ist ein wichtiger und elementarer Grundbaustein eines freien Internets. Ist keine Netzneutralität gegeben, so besteht die Gefahr eines 'Zwei-Klassen-Internets', in dem die Provider kontrollieren, auf welche Dienste und Inhalte Nutzer zugreifen können."
Da die Petition die Zahl von 50.000 Unterzeichnern erreicht hat, besteht nun die Möglichkeit, dass der Petitionsausschuss des Bundestages das Thema auch öffentlich diskutiert.
