Goku's voice was a little high compared to the US version but I think the personality of the US version of Goku was better
The following is from memory so no source links have been given.
The episode where Vegeta was badly beaten by Goku and friends upon first encounter on earth before going to Namek.
As Vegeta was about to crawl back into his space pod for a getaway, Krillin used Yajirobe's sword and was about to kill Vegeta.
As Krilllin was about to stab Vegeta...
Here is the difference in personality
US dub
Goku pleads with Krillin to spare Vegeta's life to show him mercy that their is a better way and that he is the only other Saiyan left and feel a form of camaraderie with Vegeta because he too is super strong. Additionally Goku says that if Vegeta were to ever come back to create havoc Goku would take responsibility.
DBK
Goku pleads with Krillin to spare Vegeta because Goku finds it thrilling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no9fpKVXxCc to fight someone so strong and finds it a waste of a kill and so would like to encounter Vegeta for a rematch.
Im not saying that killing Vegeta was the "correct" thing to do but rather from a stand point of Goku's reasoning I just find it more "noble" in his US dub version.
But of course every1 has different thoughts on these things so its just a matter of perspective.
little amendment
oh and by the way whether or not the chars voice is high or not low or not is insubstantial to the character of the character. Just thought I would clarify my above post
Oh, yeah, I remember that difference.
At first I thought you were talking about us DBZ and japanese DBZ though, which got me really confused!!
