Hi guys, i want to open my wireless, but I need to disable the p2p ports in the router first, because there are strict laws against piracy in Germany. Can someone tell me how to block ALL of the p2p ports and can this block be avoided by the users somehow? Greets
P.S. My router is Dlink DIR-300 A1
You won't have much success this way, as everyone is able to use non-standard ports for p2p.
So can I make my idea somehow working? Free WiFi but blocked P2P connections?
Blocking ports won't work. You will have to filter P2P at the protocol level. Of course, assuming your router supports that, or can do so with alternative firmware.
I admire what you're doing, but if you plan on sharing your connection, consider all the possible risks. Besides downloading, some people might abuse it to spam, download kiddie porn or who knows what else, and the fire is on you if it happens. Not to mention your ISP might cancel your service, because they tend not to like this sort of stuff.
well it depends that the given functionality exists or not in ur router. u have to first check which protocols are supported in the router, then u have to make a group of them and use DROP command to drop packets having that protocols.
commands differ, it might have another name on his router and grouping might not be supported either.Quote:
